Am I missing something? Is Koufos that good? Why no Aldrich?

Why on earth didn't you guys end up with Cole Aldrich or Ed Davis? Don't you need defensive help up front in order to slow down the Pau's and the Amare's of the NBA?
Just curious.

If you read through some of the other threads you'll see that many of us are wondering the same thing.

Koufos was terrible last year. Brutally bad. I don't think he had anything to do with the decision.
They might have thought Fesenko was as good as Aldrich though. But, I doubt it.
Most likely they thought that Hayward projected to be a better player than Aldrich or Davis. I think we're going to have to wait a couple years to see if they were right on that count.

It's crystal clear Jazz brass is very, very high on Hayward. Nothing against the kid (he can play ball and demonstrated the ability to play the big games)... yet I wish Jazz brass is right and I'm just a stupid brainless fan for being mad about the pick.

Picking the BPA is either the correct course over several seasons, or it's the wrong course.

I would say with a few more pounds Kouf is more similar to a young Shaq.

Ed Davis is a huge question mark on defense. Wake up. Cole Aldrich has some potential...not superstar potential. He has about the same ceiling as Joel Pryzbilla. Can you see Pryzbilla getting us past the Lakers?
Might as well take the best player available to compliment efforts of finding the appropriate big man when the opportunity presents itself.

Ummmm....defense is a STRENGTH of Davis. And what, just because Pryz and Cole are big white centers who block shots mean they have to have the same career path?
And if you wanted a superstar with your pick, I hate to say, but you didn't get one. If you really wanted BPA with star potential, you probably should've gone George. I actually do like Hayward though.

Drafting Hayward only means one thing: The Jazz are getting a big (hopefully a vet) from trades or through free agency.

Which is actually better than drafting Aldrich or Davis, in my opinion.

Wrong, with the Jazz drafting Hayward only means you drafted Hayword. It may be all we do except sign a few more d league scrubs.

My mistake on Davis I got mixed up...as for Aldrich, I never said anything about him being white.
I like Joel Pryzbilla, he's a solid role player with good fundamentals and sound defense...he's moderately athletic, but not exceptionally so. I see the same things in Aldrich, as well as many of the same limitations. If I were stereotyping I would have gone with an Ostertag comparison like everyone else has...I don't think Cole is quite as unmotivated or as much as a stiff, nor does he have an ugly Fred Flinstone tattoo.
My argument is that Hayward appeared to be the best player available in the eyes of the Jazz, and I can understand their perspective. If it pans out, he will be a complimentary player to Deron who can take some pressure off by handling the ball and creating a bit from the forward position. If he is who they think he is...someone who can play a similar role as Hornacek did as a 3rd man...then they're making the right decision; they can sign a project big man later or find someone in free agency with about the same potential of working out as any big left on the draft board.

Thanks for clearing that up sherlock.
It apparently needs to be highlighted for all the Watsons around this place who have never and will never do KOC's job. Here's another one for you since you seemed to like the last one:
Franchises either stay in one city for several consecutive years, or they don't.
