Boozer to Orlando??

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Wed Jun 30, 2010 3:01 pm

Dwight Howard has supposedly told his management he wants Boozer on his team. Of course, there has been speculation on this board of Bass and Gortat for Boozer. This article cites Bass and sign and trade of JJ Redick. These would be the type of deals the Jazz would usually do. Conservative keeping the Jazz as a playoff team but having no effect on a championship run.

We need a shot blocking center who is a top rebounder!! I would rather have Biedrens than these guys. But I guess it is better than getting nothing for Boozer.

You can't sign a player and then trade him with other players. So the Jazz couldn't acquire JJ Reddick in this deal.

Or Gortat and Pietrus if you want another SG for Boozer?

If we could land Gortat, I think that would be a great pickup for Booz. We aren't going to get an All-Star for Booz. Gortat fills a need, a BIG need! If we could get Peitrus too, I'd really be stoked!

Boozer for Gortat/Peitrus
TPE for Reddick

Oh hell yes!

We are only opposed to getting nothing for Boozer!!! Seems to me that a sign and trade will happen because Boozer is money hungry and wants a 6 year contract instead of a 5 year contract. He can only get a 6 year contract by signing with the Jazz or in a sign and trade.

I was surprised at Clevelands response that they will not sign and trade Lebron. Basically, they are telling Lebron either sign a 6 year contract with us or sign somewhere else for 5 years. It maybe just a negotion ploy.

I might do a Gortat, Bass and Orton deal plus next year first rounder. The Jazz resign Boozer for 12 miillion then do the trade. The only question is Boozer might want more then the 12 million. I could also see the jazz doing a Gortat or Bass and Orton trade with Orlando for the Memphis pick. Orlando might want to dump some salary plus get a future first rounder.

I don't know why we'd do it unless Gortat was involved.

I think what the Cavs are doing it short sighted, sure it puts alot of pressure on Lebron to sign with them because that is a lot of money to give up. But what if Lebron leaves anyways, now you got a franchise that is known to screw players over. I doubt they will ever be able to attract any good free agents after that.

I just don't think their GM wants to be known as the guy that traded Lebron.

Is it any better to be known as the GM who allowed him to walk away for nothing. That said most of his preferred destinations don't have the assets to provide back unless it is Dallas or Chicago.

This seems like the best option for the Jazz. Not sure if Orlando would do it though...

the whole drafting of Orton was to make Gortat available. If you trade them both away, you dont have anyone to backup Dwight. Plus then you are giving 2 good role players (1 with potential starting abilities) and 2 first round picks for a very good PF, but at 28 with a huge contract. That would not be my first choice of trades.

If Utah could get Gortat and Bass, that's a steal. Going out to get J.J. Redick for the TPE would be amazing. I'm not sure Utah has the cap to do all this while retaining Wes Matthews. Gortat & Bass alone wouldn't be enough for Boozer's salary though IMO

No to JJ Redick. #$%& no to JJ Redick. Sure he had some good games in the playoffs, but cmonn guys. We're done with wings. We're comitted to CJ and to our new stud Wesley Mathews.

I would love to get Gortat and Bass for Boozer.

I don't think Orlando would give up Bass and Gortat (excellent numbers when related to minutes played - not ugly contract for Gortat and very good contract with Bass) but I think they would consider giving up Gortat or Bass and a combination of Pietrus/Redick/picks/considerations/whatever in order to get Boozer to play alongside Howard (IMHO probably the best 4-5 pairing in the NBA, absolutely perfect fit, both should average their best numbers ever).
All four Magic players would do well with the Jazz.

Well...just Gortat and Bass does not work. I would imagine that the Orton draft pick would signal Gortat is available. I wouldn't say that both Bass and Gortat wouldn't be available. Ryan Anderson showed a lot of promise and fits as stretch 4 to play alongside Howard and sometimes Boozer in the post.

I dont see Orlando being able to offer a package of expirings, players and picks that will make Utah bite.

If such a deal could be worked, I'd probably prefer Pietrus & Anderson rather than Bass/Reddick (Reddick won't work) along with Gortat. Anderson is the one I'd really like to see, as he seems to play hard and gives a different look as a shooting PF -- also a kind of insurance for a spread-the-floor option if Memo has a hard time returning. I think Millsap/Kirilenko/Anderson would probably give us more than Millsap/Kirilenko/Bass at PF.
