Brewer is an unrestricted free agent

Post#1 » by 360 » Wed Jun 30, 2010 10:50 pm

You guys can get him back. I know how much your team seemed to love him.

Grizzlies fail to extend QO to him so that they can have more room to overpay Rudy Gay.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I very much doubt we spend our limited FA money on Matthews and Brewer in the same year, even if he and the team do want to reunite. He'll make a nice cheap pickup for someone though.

I figured this would happen after the Xavier Henry pick. Looks like the Jazz are the winners in this trade.

he's a good player/person but nobody really missed him after Matthews got his minutes.

(His lack of outside shooting..nobody guards him..)

I would not mind having him back. What was Memphis thinking trading a number one pick to the Jazz for? Did they actually think Brewer would put them in the playoffs last year?? WOW What an idiot GM in Memphis!!

If I remember correctly, that pick is heavily protected and possibly won't equal anything.

Not heavily. The Jazz will likely get it.

I thought we could of used him when AK went down. Weird move by Memphis. Hope Brew does well on his next team.

I wouldnt be burning that bridge just yet.

I think we can all acknowledge two things about the Brewer trade last year:

1. It was done purely to reduce salaries and therefore our luxury tax payment.
2. We would have all much prefered to have traded Miles over Brewer.

So if the Jazz can somehow trade Miles and Brewer isnt asking for too much that, it isnt inconceivable that we could resign him. Although Korver would be a priority to signed over Brewer.

I'd welcome him back with open arms. Assuming the price is right and he accepts his role.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

As a starter, he was decent. If we were to sign him as a sub, he would significantly help our 2nd unit.

Its AAAAALLLLL about the $$$$$. I guarantee the Jazz have interest, its just a matter of price tag. Brew's stock has never been lower, and we're in a market where--after the big guys get theirs, and then a few secondary guys get vastly overpaid--I think we will see a lot of conservative deals. We're still in a huge recession. We're still moving backwards with the cap. No one is going to give Ronnie the full MLE or close to it. If the Jazz can get him for around what CJ got, I do that deal every time. 3 years 9m or so would be a great deal for us and not too bad for him, either.

I remember half of you on here whining and crying like you were Deron Williams when the Jazz traded Brewer. I said it then and I'll say it now, that was a slam dunk trade for the Jazz. Brewer not worth the $5 million the team saved on that deal....

Yes. Would be an awesome 10th man or whatever used in spot situations. This is assuming he comes pretty cheap.
