http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NBA&id=881&line=137507&spln=1I think we could work something out. They've got some pieces that could be valuable to this team. Jermaine O'Neal although aging would defintely help out our middle. Mario Chalmers could give us a steady back up to Deron, and Beasley could be a swing for the fence gamble. Either Sloan gets his **** striaght, or he'll be gone .
Carlos, Kyle and Kosta
4
JO, Chalmers and Beasley
Sign and Trade both Carlos and Kyle to match JO's inflated contract. Then next season we are major players in FA with AK and JO's contract coming off the books. (not positive of JO's contract situation, but it cant be too long... can it?)

I don't see it happening. JO is a free agent and he has no mileage left. The Heat only have Beasley and Chalmers under contract.

I'm game for it, better than having Booz and Korver walk for nothing.
Sign me up if for no other reason that to get some excitement going.

Mileage huh? He's still a 7-footer that can play defense. something we didn't have before. Besides Chalmers is the real prize, and if Beasley works out we look like a genius.

And if he doesn't this is the next "Pau Gasol".

I love the idea of having Chalmers as a backup and giving Beasley a shot. I see Korver's contract getting Chalmers and Beasley maybe (not sure of the numbers) and Boozer getting the Jazz a TPE. The Jazz could also use one of their current TPEs to get Chalmers or Beasley.
Since JO is a free agent I don't know if I would be willing to give him too much money or a long term deal.

I don't think you can sign and trade two guys at the same time and also have a sign and trade player coming back... I could be wrong though.

I love how everybody on this board has a complaint and deal breaker for every single big man out there. I am still waiting for this mythical big man.

It would certainly plug a lot of holes on the Jazz.
Deron, CHALMERS
Matthews, Miles
Kirilenko, Haywood
Millsap, BEASLEY
Okur, ONEAL
All 3 of those guys would be in the 10 man rotation. Maybe O'neal starts, maybe Haywood starts(possible they like AK off bench), maybe Beasley starts (doubt it). But no matter how you slice it up, those 3 would all be contributors.
Well, at least until Beasley gets a DUI where they find an unlicensed gun and a huge bag of pot in his car, O'neal blows out his knee, and Chalmers demands a trade to a team where he can get more than 8 minutes a night.

2/3 of those are very likely. I'd put money on Beasley getting suspended by the league in the next two years. I think Jermaine O'Neal is nearly done, and I don't see a trade to Utah being the kind of move that would revitalize him.
As far Chalmers, I can't imagine him having the stones to demand a trade after he lost his starting job to Carlos Arroyo. But then again, I probably shouldn't underestimate the audacity of the NBA ego.

JON is a free agent. He is not going to be signed at more the the MLE. He really did not play well in the playoffs. The other two guys total salary is less than $6M. You wouldn't need more than Carlos to get all three.

way to ruin a pipe dream. i think you hit the nail on the head as to any reservations jazz would have for this.

Well said Happyprole. It's almost like going to vegas and betting something will go wrong.

Miami has too much cap space and needs 13 players. They have no need for s&ts unless they are getting top 3 free agents.

from chad ford's twitter:
LeBron & Bosh want to play together. Bron would prefer Cleveland. Bosh prefers Chi, Mia or NJ. Who persuades who?
Wade & Bosh want to play together too. THE Question: Do Wade & Bron want to play together? If yes, then Miami is the spot.

That's why it's be separate deals more than likely. Boozer S&T for Beasley, then Kyle Korver S&T for Chalmer, then we use a TPE for JO

200. Jermaine O'Neal
We have a new basement for playoff contract runs: In 117 brutal minutes over five games, O'Neal missed 35 of 44 shots, missed four of seven free throws, grabbed just 28 rebounds and nearly finished with a negative PER (2.8) ... and that doesn't begin to describe how poorly he played. He was like the Bizarro 2004 Jerome James. When your fans are clamoring for Joel Anthony, you know something horrible is happening. On the bright side, you know Mark Cuban has a five-year, $33 million offer waiting for him.http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/100429

Ok..sorry I'm a little lost.. is Jermaine O'neal a restricted free agent or unrestricted? ESPN shows he made over $23 million last year but he's not currently under contract with Miami correct?
I wouldn't be completely against him coming here if Lee is not available but the contract would have to be..short like 1 year with a team option because he is I think 32 years old. Lots of miles on that body but maybe he could teach Fesenko a thing or two.
