Why haven't the jazz jumped on the sign and trade with Orlando with Boozer for Bass, Petrus, and Gortat? The Jazz could throw in Kufous to make the deal work financially!

It takes two to tango.

The thing with S&T is that you have to take salary back in return. The Jazz doesn't want to take the kind of money Booze wants back in return, so a S&T will have to be for somebody really good. Since Booze is not worth the kind of money he wants, you will have to find a dummy partner to do a S&T the Jazz will take.

If the other team has enough cap room, you dont have to take anything back. I dont think Orlando is under the cap though.

#1 they need to want to have Boozer and pay him alot of money
#2 Boozer has to want to go there instead of Miami and Chicago
#3 and it takes two to tango

It takes three to do this tango. Jazz, Booz, Magic.

And sign and trades are less likely to be announced before they can consummate since a change in mind could make some players who are no longer traded unhappy.

Boozer is a base year compensation player. We would only need to take back 12 mil and change. Personally I do not want Pietrius and there is no significant salary relief. With Gortats contract we are likely paying Boozer money for a player(s) that is not on Boozer's level.
I would simply like a S&T to Chicago for Taj Gibson, maybe James Johnson as well.

Only 12mil? Have you seen our budget lately...
We're at 57mil out of a 68mil cap with only 8 players signed (including Hayward). That means we'll need 5 more players for 11mil, and any more we pay double for. By all best case scenario standards, assume we get Mathews cheap for 3 mil, no one offers Fesenko and we keep him at 1 mil, then we have 7mil left to take 12mil worth of contracts.... putting us 5 mil into the luxury tax. At what point did we give Brewer's 3mil$ away to cut back on the tax last season? Answer: To go from 5.5 mil over to 2.5 mil over. There's no way in hell we're being 5 mil over this season.
Meaning: There's no way we S&T Boozer unless our trade partner is under the cap or we package in 12mil more in contracts to take back 9.5 mil more (thus saving 2.5 mil on the additions, making the S&T putting us to that 2.5 mil over the tax mark Utah was comfortable paying last season).

Is 68 the cap or the Luxury thresh hold?

I think 68 is the luxury threshold and the cap is the 50s

Oh, and it's 10 players if you count Jeffers and Gaines under 1 mil contracts.

Slow your roll tonto. I never said I wanted to trade for 12 mil and maybe you should read my entire post before you be a douche.

Boozer won't be BYC unless he gets a contract starting at $14.8MM or more (20% raise from previous salary).
