I blame this guy!
The Gasol trade changed the nba landscape for the worst. If that wasnt bad enough enough he then rubbed our faces in it by trading for Zach Randolph. Signing Rudy Gay to max contract shouldnt surprise.
Now the only way to compete for a nba title is have not one superstar but two or now even three.
Guys like LeBron and Howard are good enough to be the best player on a team to win a championship except the Lakers (Kobe & Gasol) and Celtics (Pierce, Garnett and Allen) have multiple franchise guys. All those guys were the best players on their respective teams before they were teamed together.
Now the league is just getting ridiculous. Not only the top 3 free agents from the same free agent class all going to the same team but 3 of the top 20 players overall.
Somehow I dont think it matters whether the Jazz resigned Boozer or not.

Re: Michael Heisley
I could not agree more. It started there. I still feel that the league should have stepped in with that trade and checked it for tampering and held it up for a at least a little bit. That would have at least allowed all the GM's in the league to bring Heisley to his senses and offered him real value for his asset. Sometimes it just feels too fishy to have moves like that just happen out of the blue, or for the ping pong balls to land for the Knicks and Patrick Ewing etc.
That trade caused a chain reaction that will ruin this league, for at least 20 teams and it absolutely led to Lebron's decision tonight. Things need to change in the leagues next CBA to prevent this level of team stripping that teams participated in to free up the cap space that they did. Nothing drastic, but just like a team is prevented from giving away two consecutive first round picks, teams should not be able to dump more than X number of players to free cap space.

Re: Michael Heisley
basketball is a team sport. yes those 3 are great but they can not play 40+ minutes a night consistently. This is the video game approach we will see just how the VIDEO GAME TEAM fairs. lets see who they round their roster out with. If anything be glad he didn't go to chicago. Rose,James,Deng,Boozer,Noah. Now thats a team .

The Heat haven't won anything yet. Things will even out. How long ago was it the no star Pistons won? Seriously, lets not all be lemmings now!

... or when Malone and Payton took a pittance to play for the Lakers. That didn't work out too well for that "superteam"

I blame the Jazz and the other teams for not getting Gasol because he was easy to get as the Lakers traded very little. Lakers were just smarter and willing to spend more money than the Jazz!
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: Michael Heisley
I think Lebron, Wade, and Bosh is less scary than Lebron, Rose, Noah or even Lebron, Harris, Lopez.
I guess it could have been worse. However, don't count out Pat Riley's ability to put in some role players around those 3. Pat Riley is the cheatingest GM in the league IMHO. He'll get players by hook or crook.

Re: Michael Heisley
They'll get Mike Miller and a bunch of vets willing to take the minimum to win a title (Brad Miller comes to mind). If their egos don't implode, it will work out great for them. But... well, those are three pretty massive egos. Don't know if LeBron wants to run the point and be relegated to set-up man for Wade.

Re: Michael Heisley
I just don't see this working out as well as many think it will. The first year they will be explosive because of the hype, but in the playoffs it will be interesting.
Vets taking the minimum to chase rings is great and all but vets that take the minimum usually have broken down bodies that hurt you more than help in this situation.

There is a pretty substantial difference between the Lakers and the Heat. Malone and Payton were way past their prime and Kobe and Shaq were openly feuding the whole season. LeBron, Bosh, and Wade are all in their prime and friendly with each other. I can only hope it falls apart in Riley's face after he takes over as coach although I'm curious to see who they surround the Miami Thrice with besides Chalmers and Mike Miller.

Exactly. I think the Bulls were a better opportunity for LeBron to win multiple championships, but not sure if he has the fortitude to be in Jordan's shadow.
