Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Fri Jul 9, 2010 2:59 am

First a question: Can a TPE (the Harpring $6.5M one) be re used? If so, I would do the Harpring TPE for Beasley of Miami and the Torotno Pick that they own. I don't want Beasley and would more than happily send him to the Bobcats who are reportedly looking to land him at this point. They are looking to take him on because as it is being reported they are about to look Tyrus Thomas to NJ.

Why would we do this? To get the Toronto Pick for free.

Why would Miami? They would do this in a heart beat because if they can re use that TPE they now have the MLE to throw at somebody, and an extremely valuable TPE to pick up another piece. Otherwise they will have hardly anything to build around these guys.

Thoughts?

I will add another option to my own post. If we are set to not resign Korver, I would be on the phone right now to do a S&T of Korver for Beasley for the same thing. Either way, the Heat add the shooter they need and retain the MLE to fill out the rest of their roster. And we pick up the Toronto pick they own.

A TPE is for player only, I don't believe the pick can be thrown in. We could definately get Beasley with the TPE though but it would be to keep him. I'm mixed on him as he does have potential.

not a bad deal.

zero risk because expiring contract next year, unless KOC wants a player with a fresh long term contract like Harrington/Amundson...

One year try on beasley.. little risk

No, they won't trade a pick. They need role players desperately now. Beasley for TPE is only if they need to give all of them max.

Or if they want to use the TPE they would get from the trade to go after a player that would fit better with the Miami three some.

What are your thoughts on the Korver deal?

Won't happen. Korver would come off the bench and would be getting paid more then 2 of their starters? Don't see it happening. They might pursue Korver for veteran minimum if he wants to win a championship.

They won't worry about that. They'd start Bosh at C and James at PF if needed. Or they realize, they need more help on the bench than anything else. They don't need more firepower on the first 5. They've maxed that out.

Maybe, I still don't see it happening. I don't see Bosh and James playing up in their positions for long stretches. Maybe if Miami really wanted a strong shooter off the bench, but seems to be a stretch to me. I can see us getting Beasley for part of the Harpring trade exception though if we want him.

Nevermind. The Heat just sent him to the Wolves. The thing is, the Heat will be facing tons of ZONE DEFENSE next year, because they will otherwise be unguardable. The heat will be definately after a shooter, perhaps even two.

This would have been a shrewd deal for the Jazz. But alas, the opportunity has passed.

Yeah, since Bosh, DWade, and Lebron can't shoot they obviously will need atleast two shooters to battle that evil zone. Not to be a jerk but all 3 of those guys can shoot or drive so zone will possibly slow them down but the shots will still be coming from those 3. They just need bodies to fill the court around them and to give them some rest. I would think more defensively like Celtics did so when they do rest the score doesn't tip too badly against them.

Beasley was traded for a first round pick. So, depending on what you think of him, I guess you know what the Jazz valued the guy at. Less than that.

According to Chad Ford:

"Minnesota, according to sources, will complete the trade by sending Miami a second-round pick in 2011. The Wolves and Heat, sources said, have also agreed to swap an unspecified future first-round pick."

Not sure what is left for the Jazz to acquire before the season with their trade exception? Biedrens may not be available. I would love Oden from Portland but they would probably want, at the very least, Wes Matthews in a S & T plus future picks.

Bosh won't play center for Miami because:

1) It is proven 50x over from his Raptor days that Bosh cannot guard centers.
2) Bosh flat out refuses to play center because of 1).

Miami will sooner get Chuck Hayes to play center than field Bosh at center.

Portland isn't trading Greg Oden. Period. He's low risk, high reward.

I would do that in a heart beat. I love Matthews to death....but Oden's stock is way down due to injuries. If he could get healthy, he is exactly what we need.....

Oden would just be another Utah big watching almost every game in street clothes. Boozer is injury prone. This guy is downright brittle. He seems and looks like he is 80 years old. Oden will never be healthy enough to take a team to the next level, a la Yao.

Why wouldn't Biedrins be available? They just got two bigs in Udoh and Lee. I wouldn't be surprised if they are shopping him around. I'd LOVE to have him. He is exactly what we need.

We could probably do something like $13M TPE for Biedrins.

Biedrins/Okur/Koufos
Millsap/Kirilenko
Miles/Hayward
(Mathews and Brewer?)
Williams/Price/Gaines

We could also try to get Mathews and Brewer, and try to do some 2 for 1 kind of deal, cause if anything we can have too much depth this year lol.
