Discussions with Haslem?
1320 reported that the Jazz with two other teams are in discussions with Haslem. The Jazz are offering him the vet's minimum.

He'd be a nice backup to Sap. Not a game changer, but I've always liked his game.

For the vet's minimum he'll just stay in Miami. I'd love to have him, though.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
With all the money that middling big men are getting these days, it would be an utter disgrace if Haslem signed for the veteran's minimum. Suits me if he does it in Utah, though

LMAO Why in the world would he consider the vet's minimum in Utah

That is what I thought they said with the tail end of it. I could've heard wrong but either way I guess it doesn't matter with the wiretap saying that NJ is looking at him.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
Miami is offering the vet minimum also. The Nets can likely offer him the most money, but who knows if he'd want to sign with the Nets.
Jazz also have the LLE to offer which is around 2.08 mil this year. That would be an absolute steal for Haslem. The reason he may sign for that is because he'd be guaranteed some serious minutes.

Can he be signed then traded for the Boozer (or Harpring) TPE?

Haslem would be the perfect backup to Millsap in my opinion. If we get him I will buy his Jersey.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
Haslem would be a great pickup. But I'm afraid there's just no way he comes to the Jazz for the vet min or the BAE. If he's going to take that kind of money it'll be to stay in Miami.
He could, but why would the Heat want to do that? They're trying to re-sign him...

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
If his value becomes the vet min, he'll stay in Miami. It'll probably take a good raise for him to come here which we can't afford.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
It looks like Miami has found a way to pay him about $4M per year, so he won't be moving.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
I have to give KOC credit though..he's not overpaying (which would totally mess up the long term future of the Jazz) and he is focusing on developing new talent. Evans is looking really good and even though most people on the board wanted to strangle KOC for his draft pick...the kid is looking really good as well.
Time will tell of course but I like the fact that we have tons of options and our future cap situation looks healthy compared to the mass spending of chicago/Miami. I just hope someone sinks this Miami team..would be nice if a small market who was smart outplays all of them.

Technically yes...but there is only so much money the Heat can sign him to, whether they keep him or trade him.
This kind of trick only works if the Jazz are going to say "we would sign him to more than you'd want to pay him, so you might as well S&T him to us". But we can't do that because the Heat can't sign him for us at any higher a price than they can sign him for themselves, even if they wanted to (which they don't).
So either we outbid the Heat on our own and sign him away, or we don't. An S&T is legal but not plausible.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
I wouldn't mind giving Haslem a full mle deal for 2 years (expiring with Okur) if we allready had Matthews locked up.
Unfortunately, we can't use the MLE until Matthews is signed somewhere.

Re: Discussions with Haslem?
Dunno if we will be picking him up for 4m+...

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...
