we right now are without our allstar power foward and without the best 3pt shooter last season... i'm getting nervous, because we are getting worse, all teams are making deals and getting FA and we are quiet and becoming a non playoff team...

This year will be a bit of a rebuilder, if you as me. They have plenty to work with though. They will get something done and be ready to be a contender by next season again.

Any improvement will have to be amongst existing players.

Hopefully this isn't the team we are going into the season with. The concern has to be DW, how is he going to take losing these players and possibly not making the playoffs. Obviously not very well. His contract is up in 2 yrs, if the jazz aren't contenders or very close to contenders he's going to bolt.

There is the possibility of improved on court chemistry as well. The Jazz are ate their best when the ball is moving. Sometimes Boozer seemed to slow the movement down.

I agree, mostly. The Jazz are a proud organization and I don't think there will ever be a "let's trade everyone for draft picks!" tear down...but they're taking a step back from what has never really worked

Instead they are collecting some future assets here and there (the Memphis pick, some TPEs that can be used as late as next year). I wouldn't expect a big push for contention this year, although of course it'd be nice :D

I'm really kinda getting sick of the "let's keep dwill happy" BS. That's exactly what they did in Cleveland, and look where it got them. The Jazz simply need to do what's right for the team. Make moves to make the team better, which are coming. We will have some falling off losing Boozer, but it will be fixed. If Deron leaves when his contract is up, I doubt there will have been anything that could have been done to really keep him here.

Some Cleveland fans would argue that he left because they DIDNT keep him happy, not in spite of them keeping him happy.

If were not careful dwill will be gone. kOC needs to figure it out and the Jazz need to spend a little money to bring in some real talent

The Jazz will make Deron happy by fielding a team that wins, not by fielding a team Deron approves. You don't let players run your team, because players don't know their heads from their ***holes when it comes to building winning teams.

That's the spirit!
Is there a big dude in Hornets roster to pack with Paul?

Not ALL teams are getting better, just some are. I can't remember so many players getting overpaid in one offseason. We are smart not to be signing them and getting screwed over cap wise for years to come. Lets face it, we arent winning a title next year, so we shouldnt make any stupid signings that will **** over the team for years to come. After next season AK is off the books and we are going to have some room to work with. Things arent so bad.

Its not like we are just sitting there not trying. Its not like there are these awesome pfs and center floating around out there, or teams wanting to get rid of good players with good salaries.

What else could they have possibly done? They acquired every player he asked for, put his scrub friends on the summer league roster, and gave his posse unprecedented concessions. Hammer's exactly right.

Guess they'll just have to try harder. If getting 'worse' gets rid of the apathetic basketball that would rear it's ugly head constantly last season I am all for it.

True, but Minnesota was able to snag Beasley for nothing. Granted he has a history, but Utah is a pretty forgiving state and maybe a disciplined coach/system would have been good for him. Malone wasn't a saint when he came to Utah.

Then there are the trade exceptions. We don't have to use them, but if we don't, the fans and Deron are going to think Jazz brass is content with the way things are.....not good.

The Jazz just have to look at teams wanting to dump salaries and see if they can find a player they are willing to trade for and use the TPE on. Okafor is very tempting. Haslem would be a good add too.

True. Deron's not gonna stay because we have his best friends on the team. If we assemble a team that is good enough to contend, it'll obviously improve Deron's chances of staying here.

We don't have to use the trade exemptions by the end of this week......

Folks need to be patient........

And hopefully, the Jazz will put the assets that they have collected to good use.......

No need to rush to use the TPE, I only want to know if the Jazz will use it or let it expire.

I think they will wait a see if the remaining parts could make a run with an additional piece, to determine if it is a good business investment. If not the exceptions may be allowed to expire. The Jazz seem to have an abundance of young players (time in the league): Gaines, Jeffers, Koufos, Fesenko, 2 draft choices, Matthews. Even some of our vets have limited playing time: Price, CJ. That is more than half of our team. I am not sure that one vet moves this team to the next level.

I'm getting resigned to missing the playoffs this year. Not in a doom and gloom way, but, in a 'lets step back for a year and rebuild' way.

We'd be looking at a lotto pick and maybe a Memphis pick, a big tpe, a large expiring in Okur, and some cap room to work with. Quite a bit actually.

If we go out and sign someone just to sign a body we could really mess up our ability to bring in a quality free agent next year.

The best course of action this year is probably to go with youth and take some lumps. That'd mean lots of minutes for Fes and Kufos. If the kids play hard, I could live with that. I know lots of folks would consider that a travesty, but, I could handle a rebuilding year.

KOC will have to be careful about mortgaging the future this season IMHO.
