Players that "Fit" the Jazz (Just for Fun)

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Sun Jul 11, 2010 2:18 am

I was just wondering what players around the league you think would perform great on the Jazz (anyone, LeBron, Wade). With us loosing a lot of our role players I think we should have a little fun.

Three of my picks:
Marcin Gortat
Tony Allen
Chuck Hayes

Why Shaq out of curiosity? He doesn't have much left in the tank, he would be OK of the bench but he is a bit of a prima donna. I think he is the opposite of what the Jazz would be looking for. Also I find it funny that we already have three players from the Rockets.

Of guys we might realistically get and fill needs.

Backup PG - Luke Ridnour
Starting SG (assuming Matthews goes) - Richard Hamilton
Backup PF - Udonis Haslem
Starting C - Marcin Gortat, Chris Kaman, Emeka Okafor, Tyson Chandler

Ridnour is probably a little too expensive. Sergio Rodriguez could probably be had for BAE? Not sure.
Hamilton had a down year and is expensive, but could be had for TPE I would think.
Haslem is a lunchbox guy and if we don't match Matthews could probably be had for MLE.
Gortat probably could be had for Harpring TPE and a couple 1sts.
Kaman might be available, no idea really. But, if LA is looking to dump him the Boozer TPE and a draft pick or two would probably do it.
Okafor is rumored to be on the market, again the Boozer TPE and a couple 1sts would probably do it.
Chandler I'm not sure. But his injuries probably make him very available. Not sure the Jazz would be interested.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I think Rodriguez already signed a contract overseas. I bet Hamilton could be had for that TE...

Some interesting stats were brought up about Okafor on the trade board that make me a bit wary about him, not sure that I want him on the team, but any of those other guys would be great.

He has respect for Jerry Sloan so I think he'd buy in to whatever he was preaching. He'd also bring some personality to the Jazz and that'd be really refreshing. He could also be a bit of a mentor to Fes and Koufos, Fes is one of three players to be over 300 lbs. If anyone can teach him how to use that weight it's Shaq. I mostly want to see him on the Jazz out of curiosity.

The Rockets know how to find talent. I really like their organization and love watching Utah-Houston games. I'd like Hayes but he's a 6'8 center, I don't think a Millsap-Hayes tandem would work out.

Hayes and Okur would be fine together though. I was actually thinking of him more as a backup to Paul.

Shannon Brown could provide that tough backup point guard and play the 2 with his size not to mention he can flat out fly, would become a jazz fan favorite in hurry.

Richard Hamilton even at this stage in his career he could probably help the jazz out a ton and we could almost certainly get him for that TE.

Mikael Pietrus he could be the answer to our 2 guard he honestly to me seems like a rich mans matthews. Pietrus and gortat for a TE would be ideal but far fetched we'll see

Biedrins/Chandler both could help utah out with their size, both quality shot blockers however limited on offense, question whether either could be had for a TE.

Josh Boone/Kwame Brown either of these guys would be cheap and could possibly provide nice length and have potential to be contributors, maybe sloan being the great coach that he is could finally get something out of kwame.

I could see that working nicely.

I forgot about Haslem. He'd be awesome as a back up.

Also can't forget Josh Childress, that's who we should really be talking to right now. Good long defensive player who can shoot.

+1

He's also a very efficient player with a very high basketball IQ. Id love to get him here.

Is he better than Wesley? He will want at least a similar contract, if not more, since the one he turned down from the Hawks was almost the same amount of money. His numbers in Europe have been pretty poor, though there could be plenty of reasons for that that I don't know about. His Euro contract is downright otherworldly, since he is banking almost 15m a year, from what I've read.

I would rather pay ~34m for a guy that already showed us he can do what we need.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Matt Barnes, Raja Bell. Back in the day, we were tough like that.

Both are nearing the end of their careers. If we were contenders they would be nice pickups, but we have a ways to go.

What about Anderson Varejao? He might come cheap with the departure of LeBron...
