Memo Expects to be back near season opener

A little bit of good news.

Okur even believes it's possible to play by the beginning of the NBA's regular season, which would be about six months after he ruptured the tendon in Denver. That would fit in the recovery time frame his doctor told him after his playoff-ending procedure.

"Like, so far so good," Okur said of his rehab. "Hopefully I'm going to be able to be back early and maybe catch up (in) the preseason games a little bit and go from there."

Okur still walks with a slight limp on his left side — something that the walking and golfing should help, he claims.

But the good news, he added with a smile, is that he no longer has to wear a walking boot on his right foot, something that was required for a while after he underwent surgery to repair the Achilles that ruptured during Game 1 of the Jazz's first-round playoff series against Denver. The tendon doesn't hurt anymore, either.

"Doing good," he said. "I'm a lot better."

Well, this is certainly good news.......

I hope he takes his time though, there's no reason to rush him back and have him aggravate the injury......

We could afford to have him out about 10 games, or even a full month, that could even help a player like Koufos or Fesenko (if he returns). It could also be the right pressure to make Hayward come off to a right start. Either way, it's good news, but he needs to make sure he can't aggravate the injury any further when he steps on the floor.

This news about Memo is probably the best news we will get this offseason.

If he is still walking with a limp I can't imagine he will be back that soon. I still expect him to miss the first month or two. And it doesn't really solve anything, we still need a bruiser big not Memo.

It might even be worse for the team if he comes back that early, it would be a great chance to give Fes (if we resign him) and Kosta some playing time and time to develop.

He has a tendency to try and come back too quickly. He did it with his back a few seasons ago, and he should not have taken a pain killer shot and played with the sore Achilles at the end of the season as well. You gotta love his attitude and toughness but it isn't too smart.

At least there is some good news. Obviously he felt good enough to go out and play a game of golf which is encouraging. I hope he takes his time, gets strong, and we quadruple check his readiness before he sees even a minute of action. We're going to need Memo.

Isn't golf Okur's typical offseason workout regimen anyway  ?

I still say mid December no matter what i read about the Money man. Make sure he is 100% before we bring him back or very close to it.
