Not the idea scenario BUT better than sitting on their hands all summer. I wouldnt sign Wes either. I am ok with Jefferson but only if it costs us Memo only.

I'd do both of those.
I love Wes, but that's just too much and too long.
Get Ronnie back, and I'd love to get Al Jefferson.
I don't care what the radio guys are saying, I think he'd work out great for the Jazz.
Yes Brewer's shooting is a liability, but I'm hoping Hayward can help in that area.
Ronnie was always good at getting us off to a fast start taking it to the rim.
Don't know much about Tolliever. His stats aren't horrible, but I can't recall seeing him in action.

Perfectly okay with the first one.

Not sure how the second one would work. Minny probably wants our TPE, but I don't want to just add Jefferson's contract onto the books. That puts us back in the tax and makes us no better a team than if we'd kept Boozer. I'd want to send salary back, which Minnesota wouldn't want.

sounds like the Jazz interest has been recent...Maybe sign and trade Wes to TWolves with Memo which would allow the Jazz to keep Boozer trade exception for future use.

We can't sign-and-trade Wes. We either let him go to Portland or match the offer sheet; if we do the latter, we have to keep him until at least December and he has to approve any trade made after that.

I think if we took on Session's contract for AK's expiring and the Memphis pick Minny would do it. Maybe even buy him out and allow him to comeback to the Jazz.

You can if they haven't signed an offer sheet eg. Morrow to Nets.

Hm didnt know thats the rule...I know when the Jazz signed Brad Miller to an offer sheet...it was matched then he was traded to the KIngs. I thought he just couldnt be traded to the Blazers.

I don't ever remember them signing Brad Miller to an offer sheet.

Many years ago when Memo and Boozer were signed. He signed only because the Jazz offered the most money then was extatic to hear it was matched and he was traded to the Kings who were a contender then.

Look at the source...

Brad Miller never signed an offer sheet with the Jazz. And even if he did the parameters in which you claim the deal happened are impossible. You cannot sign an offer sheet with one team, have it matched and then be traded to another. If I remember right he wasn't even a RFA when he was sign and traded to Sacto.

That may have been on an older CBA... so who knows what the rule was then.

In any case, the real issue is Jefferson-Millsap combo long (tall) enough to compete for a championship. Probably not but worth a try....Simply, at this point there are not many other opportunities for a big to go the the Jazz, as GSW no longer trading Biedrens as they promised David Lee when he signed with GSW that Biedrens and Ellis were on the team next year.

Trading for Jefferson would be the worst move ever. Boozer, but a black hole and with no jump shot.

For real. Jazz finally have a chance to shake things up and try something new, but they revert back to a lesser version of their former self, all because "20-10 Power-forwards are hard to come by".

Like a dog to its vomit.

I dont see this as "reverting back to a lesser version of their old selves". This would be a huge risk for one, and 2nd Jefferson is NOT an undersized PF. Hes 6'10, legit, and is much better around the hoop than Boozer is. Its true, he is worse outside 10 feet, has never shown any defensive ability (though he cant be TOO much worse than Boozer, especially if Sloan is as good a coach as you all think). But if the risk paid off we would have an actual "big" big man in a system that caters to big men.

Im not necessarily for this, but this is FAR from what they normally do, and frankly its a breath of fresh air to see them even considering such a risk.

I think I'd rather the Jazz wait and see who is available at the trade deadline, and if not then try to recruit someone like Al Horford in the offseason. Deron should start texting him today about joining the Jazz, since that's apparently allowed in today's NBA.
