Toronto and Phoenix vs Jazz

Phoenix loses Stoudamire and go out and sign: Warrick, Frye and then today get Tukoglu and Childress and only give up the suddenly 3rd string point guard Barbosa.

Toronto loses Chris Bosh and is now picking up Barbosa, Diaw, and Tyson Chandler and are only dumping Turkoglu (who was not a fit for them but fits in phoenix) and Calderon who has a terrible contract.

Jazz..................... Lose Booz.....crickets chirping, lose Korver.........again crickets, lose Matthes likely......crickets.

And now we are said to be persueing Al Jefferson. Are you kidding me. Al Jefferson makes $2M less than Boozer, plays worse defense, worse offense, and is coming off a major injury. If they do this deal they are idiots. Should have just resigned Boozer and actually got the all star that was already on their roster.

Chandler is who we should be going after.

I'm wondering why Phoenix is willing to pay Turkoglu $11M/year and Childress $6M/year but wouldn't pay Amare an average of $17M/year.

Word is we are going after Al Jefferson. That is what makes no sense. Going after Chandler is a one year risk. He is a shot blocker and athletic rebounder. I prefer investing $12M for one year rather than risking 4/$28M by taking on Gortat.

I think the Al Jefferson deal is absolutely ridiculous idea. His contract is: $13M, $14M, $15M. He is coming off a career ending type injury, he is slower and plays worse defense than Boozer, which is a feat in and of itself. He is worse than Boozer offensively. If we were going to go after Jefferson we would have been better off just resigning Boozer for the $15M per that he asked for.

Your answer to Amare, is his injury history. If he gets hit in that eye that almost ended his career year before last, his career will be over. He also hasn't fully recovered from the micro fracture surgery and that is the kind of injury that can be reoccuring.

That is my guess.

I would assume the same concerns were shared by the Jazz with regard to Booz.

Jefferson is a 42M investement for 3 years... that's an ugly contract to swallow, what would be the point.... to have another bad contract in line when Kirilenko's got off books?

It's 20 per year, but I wonder the same thing as well.

Phoenix is still a worse team. Toronto is a worse team. The Jazz won't be worse, or will be slightly worse with Jefferson.

Toronto is a worse team but in a VASTLY better cap situation.

Can't imagine how this is a bad trade. I'd take Al, at his price and length, over anyone mentioned in this thread.

True, but PHO isn't. I honestly don't care about the Raptors. It's Western playoff teams that concern me, and I would not be at all surprised to see PHO fall off the radar this season. :D

You sound like the whiny kid who isn't happy with anything realistically in his grasp.

What are career-ending type of injury are you talking about? Jefferson played 76 games last year, which is a good indication that his knee is fine. He is 3 years younger than Boozer and plays better defense (not great, but better). He's also played in 50 more games than Boozer since 2004, so he's more durable. Good move by the Jazz FO. Considering their realistic options, what else can they do? He's a 20/10 guy that can play C/PF and has a lot of basketball in front of him.

Anyone else hope that even with this Jefferson trade we resign Fesenko? It will be a small contract and he has never really had another big to develop against. Jefferson could help him tremendously and we would have another big body just in case an injury happens to anyone on the front line.

I hope we resign fes, but i honestly have this gut feeling fesenko goes to the mavs. Kinda like Cuban thinking he's sticking it to the jazz. We'll see.
