http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/ne ... SHeadlinesNot sure how I feel about that. Even worse defensively than Boozer and not as efficient a scorer.

Scared. Thats how we should all feel. He is about the only PF in the entire league that can actually claim to be a worse defender than Boozer. Boozer is the all star and stud on offense and if we were going to pay $13M, $14M, and $15M the next three years for Jefferson I would have rather resigned Boozer.
Al Jefferson is also coming off a career ending type unjury. Heck, if we are going to take that amount of risk and commitment to a guy coming off and injury I would have much rather of taken on Elton Brand and gotten the #2 pick from Philly. Then we trade it to Minny for #'s 4, 16, 23 and taken Cousins, Babbit, and Whiteside.

Lol, Jefferson is a very, very good player. The question here is health and fit. He's worth that contract, and an All-Star type performer in his own right. But if we're going to be about defense this year, this is a bad fit.

Jefferson is a good player. Period, but he makes our defensive problem worse. Lastly, he is not a center. He is a PF.

even if he is worse then boozer defensively.I dont see how he could be at least he can block a shot or 2 a game. Im sure im not the only who hated boozers stupid swiping at the ball fouls.

I'd be ok trading for Jefferson. At 6'10" and with his hook shot, he might occasionally be able to score over Gasol, Bynum, and Odom.

I can't believe the Jazz front office would trade for Jefferson with just our TPE....... Wouldn't that put us into luxury territory again?
I wonder what Millsap is thinking right now....... With Boozer gone he was going to be the man at PF, now the Jazz are discussing bringing in Jefferson...... Doesn't seem like the Jazz are too confident about Paul's ability to start the entire season at PF.......

"Occasionally" for 13M? I'd rather not.

So far this is what I've gathered
Pros:
An actual big "big man"
25 years old
20-10 before his injury and not much worse after
would probably play much better in a system designed to run through him and Dwill as opposed to Kahn's rip-off triangle offense
great post-up game
Cons:
Defense as bad or worse than Boozer's
coming off a risky injury
poor shooter from around 10 ft +
worse FG % than Boozer and at times comes off as selfish (playing in a system that focuses on him might negate his need to force up bad shots and resolve both these issues)
hmmmmm.

When healthy, he blocks almost 2 shots a game. He's taller and longer than Boozer. He is clearly a better defender than Boozer, who is slower, smaller, and more foul prone than Jefferson.

wth, he played in every game last year besides the ones he was suspended for, his career is fine. Its a 2 year recovery period, by training camp he's gonna be back to 100%. With Williams as the true #1, Big Al can be the #2 compliment he hasn't gotten a chance to be, but should be. Taking him for free is the biggest steal since Gasol. He's on a 5 year 65 million contract, Amare just got 5 years 100 million. Huge steal, theres no cons at all for anybody but Wolves fans.

Just filed to ESPN.com: Sources say UTA has quickly moved into lead in race to acquire Al Jefferson from MIN and working now to seal deal
Looks like the ewok is coming to SLC

YES!!! This is what I have wanted all offseason! He will be a 24 and 12 player for the Jazz, we will be a much, much better team with him rather than Boozer. It doesn't push us past the Lakers, but it is close : )

Ugh...Not a fan. I thought we paid Sap to be Boozers replacement, now he's gonna have to share time with Al. I'm guessing he won't be too happy...

Would love to see Jefferson, in today's NBA he IS a center, as well as Sessions come our way!

I think Jefferson will be our center for the most part while Memo is recovering.

so..what does this do to our cap this year?
This means Matthews will not be matched?
Who starts at PF?
No Al Harrington?
So many questions if true..

Al would probably play about 15 minutes at center which would give Millsap starters minutes at power forward. It would also give us a chance to develop Fess and maybe ship Millsap off for an all-star wing.
Fesenko (10)/Jefferson(14)/Okur(24)
Jefferson(20)/Millsap(28)
Kirilenko(28)/Hayward(20)
Miles(26)/Price(10)/Hayward(12)
Williams(36)/Price(12)

Ya, and when he's back, Sap will be comin off the bench once more. And so much for AK gettin any chance to get meaningful PF minutes.
