Last moves??

First would be sign Ronnie Brewer and Fess. Both of which should be both cheap and short. For example I'd give Brew a 4.5 M for 3 years, 3rd yr being a player option. Then I would go for a vet min backup PG. And the best I can think of right now is Carlos Arroyo. He knows the system and is a capable passer/leader with lots of experience. He has matured a lot and I know he would fit in well behind DWill and Price. Hell, last year he played 3rd PG on the Heat behing Chalmers and Alston, and in the end, won the starting PG spot from both. And he won't ask for more than the vet min. Then sign Evans and Jeffers to unguaranteed deals.
So in the end, here is what our roster would look like:
PGs
Deron WIlliams
Ronnie Price
Carlos Arroyo
SG/SFs
CJ Miles
Raja Bell
Gordon Hayward
Ronnie Brewer
Othyus Jefffers
Andrei Kirilenko*
PF/C
Paul Millsap
Andrei Kirilenko*
Jeremy Evans
Al Jefferson
Mehmet Okur
Krylo Fessenko
That'd be the complete team. 2nd best in the west and then some IMO.

Signing of Brewer is off the table now that we have Bell...I'm guessing from here we'll only be bringing in D-Leaguers along with Jeffers and Sundiata....oh and Fes

I like the arroyo signing. I don't think we need Brewer. we need another big man like Augustine or or the Phenix center/forward Amundson! Great thinking ahead!

Im pretty sure the Jazz go with a 13 player roster to save money. Assuming we sign Evans and Fess, that would leave 2 spots open. The Jazz always keep 3 PGs so likely Gaines or D-Leaguer for that position then one other spot. I would think they would keep a center for the final spot since Memo maybe out the first couple months of the season. Mikki Moore would be a good pick up but he will likley be a little expensive. Augustin is not a center but also be final guy.

I like Augustine too. If we can't sign a tough vet like Kurt Thomas, I'll have to go with Augustine.

Sign Evans, Gaines, Jeffers and either Fes or Augustine.

I agree Brewer is off the table now that Bell is on board. As for Gaines, I say no thanks. No need for a PG who can't shoot 50% from the free throw line against summer league talent.

I liked Daversons game in summer league, but i like the history between Augustine and Dwill. I would still like an upgrade at the back up PG. I dont think we have anymore money to spend. So time to just fill the roster.

Because the competition you're facing really screws w/ your ft%.
If we're just plugging a PG in for the season as injury protection for Deron/Price, then Gaines is the best we'll be able to get without paying more ($ for $ more since we're over the tax already). We won't find a better PG for this season in the rookie class.
If we're looking for a future replacement for Price, it might make sense to take a flyer on an undrafted rookie PG and see where it goes this season. I still favor keeping Gaines, but if we're getting someone else, it better be someone with potential to be more than Ronnie Price (so, not Arroyo).

Uh...Who you're playing against really doesn't have anything to do with how well you shoot free throws.
...everyone just stands there. Maybe one of the weirdest arguments against a player I've ever seen in my life. Haha.

I really don't want Gaines on our team regardless. He is in everyway a worse version of Price. At least Price is a really good man pressure defender and has tons of energy, which he might be the best on our team in that. Gaines really isn't good at anything, and bad at almost everything, INCLUDING FT SHOOTING!!
And as for
"If we're just plugging a PG in for the season as injury protection for Deron/Price" I think Arroyo is the best fit ESPECIALLY for all that. He knows the system, and has the ability to do it better than most (or maybe even all) of those available at his price. He also brings experience and is solid.
As for another young undrafted rookie PG, I don't think we'll be able to find anyone better than Price is right now, and with our current team, I don't think we should look so much for those guys, especially if you have already someone young like Price at that spot. If we get rid of Price, then look for some young undrafted talent, but for now, I prefer a vet as our 3rd PG.

Weird. I kind of like Gaines better than Price. I wish he was the backup to be honest.

I don't see Arroyo coming back.
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/8391843/ns/sports-nba/...Carlos Arroyo and Lopez shared the job in 2003-04 and helped lead the Jazz to a 42-40 season. But Arroyo and coach Jerry Sloan clashed early last season, and the Jazz sent the guard to the Detroit Pistons for Elden Campbell and the pick that went to Portland on Tuesday..." [in the Deron Williams trade]
And his character hasn't improved over time.
http://www.hoopsnotes.com/2010/02/carlo ... al-gables/Carlos Arroyo Arrested In Coral Gables
By Dimitri - Friday, February 26, 2010 - 19:000
The list of South Florida athletes who have been arrested grew on Friday. Coral Gables Police arrested Heat star Carlos Arroyo just before 9 a.m. Friday. Arroyo was arrested on charges of failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence.
According to Coral Gables Police, a detective followed Arroyo after he saw the Heat player driving slowly and holding up traffic. The detective asked for a marked unit to make a traffic stop on Arroyo.
Police said a motorcycle officer made several attempts to stop Arroyo’s car before Arroyo finally pulled over. However, Arroyo refused to get out of his car. Additional officers responded to the scene and Arroyo eventually got out of his car.
Police said Arroyo attempted to resist being handcuffed when he was taken into custody. According to the arresting officers, Arroyo was “confrontational and challenging” after his arrest and posed a threat to both himself and the officers during the incident.
Arroyo was later released with a promise to appear to face the charges.
Gaines didn't do much to solidify his place this summer so there is a chance a third PG is brought in for the minimum. Price will be the backup for 1 more year until his guaranteed contract is up.

Sign Evans (he's cheap and has upside), Fes (he's big, he knows the system, still very raw).
Augustine, Yata and OJ have a chance. We'll bring at last a guard who can carry the ball and another big or a swingman just to fill the roster with few bucks.
If in february there's a chance to trade for a veteran, we still have another trade exception from the Harpring trade.

I was surprised to see the Rockets sign Scola to a 5 year deal at just over 9m a year. I thought he would get more than that.

What we need is a solid backup 2. We are solid everywhere else except the backup SG spot. You got Bell and then who? Miles or Hayward are going to have to swap in to the back-up 2 since your next best option is Jeffers or Price/Gaines.
I agree with 2nd best in the West. I won't be surprised if we end up in the WCF with D-Will in serious contention for the MVP and both him and Jefferson making the all-star team. But then again, I'm very optimistic and a lot will ride on the health of this team.
