Initially Okur will come of the bench because of his injury, after he returns and gets healthy, depending how we are playing, Sloan will decide. Between the 3 there is 96 minutes to split at the 4 and 5. If Okur does make it back at the start of the season I do not see him playing more than 20-25 minutes a game for a while. That will leave AJ and Sap to suck un 36-38 minutes a game

Millsap will likely return to the bench.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Does nobody here think that MIllsap will be REALLY pissed off if he has to go back to the bench?

Nope, Millsap isn't that kind of guy.

Agreed. He was never promised a starting spot as far as we know...the offer sheet he signed in Portland probably would have had him on the bench behind Aldridge too; he knew that and still signed it. I don't think he has a problem being a backup; he's still a better defender than Okur or Jefferson and will therefore still get his minutes.

Does no one else remember this?

"Will you ask for a trade if Carlos Boozer is re-signed?"
“I don’t know what I would do. I would have to wait and see.”

That always made me very uncomfortable.

DeAngelo Simmons, Millsap’s agent, called his client, “a potential all-star”, saying that with added minutes he could flourish in the Jazz system, especially along side point guard Deron Williams. It can be argued that Millsap was the best Utah big man in the playoffs this past season, and he seemed noticeably less bothered than Boozer by the length of the Los Angeles Lakers frontcourt.

“I think he’s ready for what his role will be,” Simmons said. “He’s waited patiently and he’s done it professionally. He’s proven to be dependable, he’s proven to be reliable and he’s passionate for the game of basketball. He’s ready to be an important piece.”

I really don't see why he WOULDN'T be upset, regardless of how good a guy he is. I think we can all agree he's a monster competitor, and wants a chance to be the guy, to prove he can replace Boozer easily.

I really don't understand the lack of nerves among Jazz fans about this.

I think Al will be the center. Millsap will be the PF. Memo and AK will back up.

I think Okur will be the center, Jefferson the PF, and Millsap off the bench. But, I see all 3 getting over 30 minutes so I don't think the whole starting thing is as important as you folks.

To be fair, what else is his agent going to say? "The client who pays my fees is looking forward to being a career backup, I hope the Jazz limit his minutes wherever possible"?

I'm not ready to panic yet. Okur's injury may limit his minutes for a while and the Jazz will find the best combination over time.

Yeah, they have a whole bunch of time to experiment. No combo will hurt the team.

Okur off the bench would make him the best backup C in the league IMHO. Better than Gortat, better than Chandler.

Okur should be our 6th man. I firmly believe that.
