Millsap & Okur

Since you guys just got Jefferson from Minnesota, doesn't that make Millsap slightly less valuable? I'm one of Sap's biggest fans, but as a Detroit fan I was wondering what you guys would think if we traded Ben Gordon & a future first rounder, for Millsap & CJ Miles.. Ben Gordon is one of the best 3pt shooters in the NBA, and with a starting lineup of Williams, Gordon, Bell, Jefferson, & Okur, you guys would have 3 guys who stretch the floor (at a very high level) to go along with your low post banger Jefferson & your star point Williams. Plus, Okur & AK47 need their minutes too, and I don't see how thats possible with Jefferson & Sap both playing 30+. Thoughts?

First thought is we payed the front loaded part(bonus included) of Portland's offer to keep Millsap, he's probably the 2nd least player to be traded from the jazz right now. It would take an offer that we couldn't refuse(not a huge contract like Ben Gordon)

Okur won't start the beginning of the season, and won't come out of injury straight into the starting lineup.

The Jazz play a game of lay-ups first priority or inside first, outside second. Sloan prefers to have big guys getting rebounds and lay-ups as opposed to three point shooting. If anyone shoots from the three before the 24 sec. clock gets to about 12 he is having a fit.
I may be wrong but isn't Gordan a very short SG. Jazz wouldn't go for that right now. They are looking for a bigger outside shooter, or wing player even more so now that they signed Bell.
I don't think Bell will be playing much SF and Jefferson will be playing tons of Center with Milsap playing PF.

I like how you try to throw Cj in there. CJ is probably worth a first by himself. So that is basically Gordon for Millsap. There is no way that they do that. Millsap, Jefferson, and Okur is a good rotation that fits fairly well together, hopefully it does work out that way. There are plenty of minutes to go around. There is no way that we could start Deron, Gordon, and Bell. That would be one of the shortest trios to play.

If Sloan doesn't start Millsap and we fall short of expectations I will officially be done as a Jazz fan. Al Jefferson has the standing reach of a 7'1" center, while Okur... his 6'11" self, so what's the urge of starting Okur at center instead of Jefferson? Jefferson and Millsap should be our lineup, Okur needs to get as much rest as we can afford so he can actually be healthy for the playoffs.
Oh and, SERIOUSLY, you ask us to trade Miles too and you guys throw in a future first rounder? This trade would make the Pistons so much better in the weak East that it would basically make that pick worthless. Gordon was horrible last season and he has a huge contract, no thanks.

Awful, awful, awful trade for the Jazz. If I were on an acid trip, I'd still find the lucidity to turn down this trade.

I think Utah will keep Millsap, Jefferson, and Okur together. It doesn't hurt to go with a three man rotation at the PF/C spots.

lol ahh ohh
Jefferson is better than Milsap at PF and the Jazz gave Okur a great extention. So it may just be Okur and Jefferson with Milsap first off the bench.

That is when Okur gets healthy.

It was a 2 year extension, and Millsap got a 4 year, 32 million dollar deal.
Your point is terrible.

lol, you misunderstood my point. The fact that they gave the extension to Okur; they plan on keeping him around unlike Boozer, Korver. Thus they have plans to incorporate the type of play Okur plays and continue the offense to Okur's style.
(BTW they didn't come up with Milsap's contract.... Portland did)

Huh, what's so funny? Do you even follow the Jazz? In 2008-09, Millsap started 38 games, in which he averaged about 16ppg 10.5rpg 2.5apg 1.3spg and 1bpg in 34.4mpg, and in the 2010 playoffs averaged 18ppg/9rpg off the bench. It's about time that we give him starter minutes. As a PF, Boozer would of been the guy to go with, why would we let him go if we weren't aiming using the money for a center? Jefferson has easily played his best basketball as a center, go look at the splits for the last two seasons.

Center/PF ..... doesn't matter in the Jazz system with Okur.(I'll explain below) Ming Kong! you might not be a fan anymore and that is what I'm laughing about because it is easy that Jefferson and Okur will start....NOT Milsap. Sorry but true.
This is just because the Jazz value Okur and his style of play....thus the contract extention.
Don't worry, I still expect you to be a fan.

Okur likes to go outside and shoot but he will still be most likely tagged as the Center in the Jazz offense with Jefferson playing inside where he gets his "center" type stats he is so good at as PF, on the offensive side of the play.

Thanks for the interest in Millsap. I don't think Gordon fits in with what the Jazz are trying to do.
Thanks anyway.

I don't think it matters who starts as it might change. My guess would be AJ and Sap starting for the first little while since Okur is not going to be in game shape for awhile. The question I would have is who finishes. As Sloan always picks the best 5 to finish games and claims that as more important then being a starter.

2 unprotected firsts would make this deal a steal for the Jazz. The pistons have one of the worst prospects in the league (overpaid role players signed to huge contracts with no franchise player). Those picks are pure gold if unprotected.
Having said that, management would never take on gordons contract given his performance / 68 million committed to next year.
