Per WT....GO GET RUDY!

Post#1 » by erudite23 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:59 pm

I don't know if it was just missing out on him in favor of Mo Almond, or if it was watching him posterize Dwight in the Olympics, or nail 3 after 3 in the NBA...but I've always loved Rudy Fernandez' game. I think he could be had for a relative pittance right now, and the Jazz should be pursuing him hot and heavy. I see him in a similar role to what Hornacek did for us, and I think he can be that caliber player in the right system. I just love his game. We should be able to get him for a heavily protected future 1st, or maybe for a piece like Ante Tomic. GET ON IT KOC.

I'd love Rudy too. My only concern is that he's become a drama queen in Portland; if Sloan favors Bell over him in end-of-game situations, or simply by giving Bell more minutes, I can see Rudy making waves.

I don't see Portland dealing w/ Utah in the near future.

Isn't this the guy who is crying for more playing time in Portland and threatening to stay in Europe if he doesn't get it? I think I'd like him more on my fantasy bball team than my "real" bball team.

No way on Tomic for Rudy. That would be like trading Scola to your division rival for nothing.

I know Rudy's game and he would be a perfect fit here. He cannot play at his level with Roy around, but in Jazz he would improve already what Matthews did for us, except in defense. Still he is really talented, can shot, can pass, can dunk. He would be a instant fan favorite.

He only makes 1.2 mil next year, so the Jazz could sign him with out paying a ton of money over the cap, and he is far better than Jeffers, he would make us better.

However who knows if he would be happy here, or if Portland would accept the Maynor TPE for him.

WShy wouldn't he be happy? He'd get playing time. The TPE is what I would do.

Dont trade Tomic for Rudy. Tomic + Al Jefferson in 2011 should have us big and contending for the Conference Crown.

I have always thought Fernandez is underutilized in Portland. He's a talented player that should probably be starting somewhere. And I'm surprised at how much everyone shares that opinion here, I thought he was generally underrated.

But a complaining shooting guard gets benched, chewed up, and spit out by Jerry Sloan. I really wish we could bring him here, it just won't work.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Since there is so much Tomic in this thread, what is he going to bring that we don't already have right now?

I know he plays well in the offensive paint, but with Jefferson and Millsap, how much more overlap do we want there? He's very long, but he isn't very heavy or strong, and isn't much of an anchor defensively. I like his game, but it doesn't seem so valuable anymore with Al Jefferson's game in the rotation.

No man, Rudy has played for Aito Garcia Reneses, and he is not more friendly and easy going than Sloan... He wants to play and he feels he can help more than he does with Roy, Webster, Matthews or the french boy which name I don't remind right now.

I think with CJ, Bell and the rookie who can play sf and AK who can play PF there's more room to him to be more important.

Tomic is compared to Pau Gasol by scouts. He plays like Gasol and has good moves in the paint. I would tend to agree with those saying don't get rid of Tomic because you can never have enough bigs. He will be able to take over for Okur and it will be him Milsap and Jefferson as the three headed horse in the low post.
