Would you trade Williams and for What?

Just a quick question. If D Williams wanted to be moved what would you want for him? Or if you wanted to move him what would it take for the Rockets to get him?

I see no case whatsoever that the Jazz want to move Deron. But assuming a hypothetic yes, the Jazz would be looking for an all-star calibur player in return since that is what they would be giving up.

To be fair in answering the question about what the Rockets could offer, I reviewed the roster. I don't see any natural fit there--Yao has missed too much due to injury--Martin, Scola, Lowry.....they may fit a niche but don't mean as much to a team as Deron would. I don't see them wanting to take on the expiring guys like Battier or Jeffries. I'd just as soon ride out Deron's contract and let him walk if he really wanted to leave.

But fortunately neither Deron nor the Jazz want to part ways.

Really nothing, with Yao being an expiring contract, there is nothing enticing about trading for him. Really there isn't anybody else to make it worth our while. If Kevin Martin was a healthy player, then he might be of interest to us, but he's always hurt. Aaron Brooks is good, but an obvious downgrade.

Now if Williams demanded a trade, we'd want atleast Yao maybe a Yao/Martin or Yao/Brooks combination would be nice, but I think Utah would trade with another team or include a 3rd team.

There's only a handful of players in the league I'd even consider as a main cog in a Deron trade, and they are all equally untouchable. Guys like Howard, Wade, or James come to mind

Assuming we've gotten our **** straight with Jefferson/Bell/Hayward, cause we lost a lot over the last year in Maynor, Brewer, Mathews, Boozer, and Korver. I think we got better, but we need to prove to Williams that we are moving in the right direction.

Call me a fool, but if Wade didn't mean what he does to the city of Miami, I could see them swapping Wade for Williams since I think Williams compliments Bosh/Lebron better than Wade does.

I agree, I admire Williams so IF he ever did leave I would follow him and still be a big fan. But at this time i think you are right, we need to continue to prove that the jazz are becoming a high caliber, champion team. Or else he may leave.

Rockets? If Deron killed a hooker and demanded a trade the Rockets are low on the list of teams with assets worth trading him for.

DelaneyRudd We Rocket Fans think the same of you as you do of us. You guys have always been our Natural rival going back to Stocton and Malone Vs Hakeem, and Drexler

Guys I'd definitely trade Deron for: LeBron, Dwight, KD

Guys I'd consider trading Deron for: Kobe (if Kobe wasn't six years older than Deron, it'd be a no-brainer, but he is), D-Wade (all things being equal, trading D-Will for D-Wade would also be a no-brainer, but all things are not equal; Wade is older and far more injury prone than Deron)

If Deron was demanding a trade in the last year of his contract, the Jazz would obviously have to consider other options, but, as of now, those are the only guys who I believe should even tempt the Jazz to unload Deron. There are definitely other guys who are roughly on Deron's level (CP3, Roy, Melo, to name a few), but trading for any of those guys would basically be a lateral move at best.

But I'm not talking rivalry. If we were trading our best player we would want to get a player back who would still be our best player. At this point in Yao's career our top 2 players are better than every current Rocket. The middle players for the Rockets are better which evens things up.

The only two players in the entire league I would have traded Deron for are Dwight Howard and Lebron. Now that I think Lebron is a fool, that list narrows down to Dwight Howard. Deron is the best player at his position...so for fair value, he would need to be traded for a player who is the best at his position. That gives us Bryant at SG (too old. He may win more rings, but thats due to his cast now), Lebron at SF, nobody worth trading for at the PF position (Duncan too old, Amare/Dirk not worth Deron), and Howard at the C.

Right now I would trade Deron straight up for: LeBron, Durant, Howard.

I would consider doing a deal for: CP, Yao, Wade, Melo, and Bosh

After that I wouldn't trade Deron for anyone else straight up. Now, if we could get a package of guys around Greg Oden (yes, I am that desperate for an opportunity at a genuinely dominant big guy), Joakim Noah, or maybe even Brook Lopez I would think about it.

But let's be real. Asking this question is stupid. The only way players of Deron's caliber *ever* get traded is if they are unhappy with their situation and ask out OR if the relationship between the team and the player is so damaged that an ongoing partnership becomes impossible to maintain. And in such cases, the value of said player drops precipitously. You will see this if/when Melo gets traded, just as we saw with a prospective Boozer trade, the Shaq trade, the VC trade, the Barkley trade and on and on. The worst thing that can happen to a franchise is to have their relationship with their franchise guy go south, because you never get equal value back. The Jazz understand this, and they are smart enough to make sure that will never happen with DWill. The only way he leaves or gets traded is if the team is unable to put enough around him to compete at the highest level. In that case, he would have to have an opportunity to go to another team that is capable of doing that in order to make leaving worth it. That is extremely unlikely, and Houston is not it. Although a combo of a healthy Yao and DWill would be nice, particularly with Kevin Martin spacing the floor, I don't see enough there to a) entice the Jazz into a trade or b) compete for a championship afterward.

Lebran James and CP are the only players I would consider but it will never happen. Williams is a jazzman for life.

I don't know why someone mentioned Yao. He may never suit up again. Only a fool would trade major assets for him at this point.

I don't see Yao involved in a deal like that either...Maybe Martin/Brooks/Hayes, but realistically even if Deron were on the market we wouldn't trade him to our biggest rival.

You would consider Williams for Bosh, but not Kobe? WOW. Kobe has ATLEAST 3 more years in him at a superstar high level. I
