Apparently working out for the Jazz. Good idea, or not?

I haven't heard much about him lately. But, a few years back he was a quality reserve.

If he has anything left in the tank it would be a nice addition - however I wonder if it means that Fess won't be coming back.

Certainly couldn't hurt, even if he's a 12th man.

1,590 total points, and even less rebounds. Meh, at best he's our 13th man, cause for a 33yr old, he's almost done, and he really was never anything special.

This guy is past his prime and no better or even worse than Collins or Moore. There are much better options out there like D.J. Mbenga and Earl Barron.

Latest ive heard in Belgian press is that DJ Mbenga has been talking to the Jazz over the weekend .. He's announcing his new team in a press conference today in Brussels (no not a 1 hour special on tv :D)

I can't imagine the Jazz giving a guaranteed contract out. Augustine is plenty fine a back up who can be cut anytime unless he gets a foreign contract. Fesenko is still the guy the Jazz want to develop. The delay is about time frames. Once you start the FA period and get up to the start of the season things are cooking. In between there is stagnation because there is time. The Jazz won't give up on Fesenko while your Elsons, Mbengas, Augustines, Barrons are out there. No one is the answer for a great bachup but clearly Fesenko is the one with the upside, and the desire to be in Utah.

he would be a backup, but wouldn't contribute much imo

Just saw on SLC Dunk that Hoopshype says Elson is leaning towards signing with the Jazz. A l'il off topic, but when they followed up with not knowing who Francisco Elson is, that's BAD on that site. I usually like SLCD, but c'mon now.. this is a guy who has been a good reserve for several years and one that the Spurs actively sought to shore up minutes behind TD and help extend the Spurs championship viability. Big time fail. In other news, I would love the Elson signing. Something that all the Fes freaks on the board need to realize is that WHOEVER we sign, be it Fes or somebody else, is coming in to be a 2nd/3rd string center and likely the 10th-13th man. What you want from that spot is somebody who can give a couple good minutes, defend, etc. Fes may have potential, but I'm not willing to invest millions in that chance for a third string center who will probably give us many more completely horrid stretches of play (when he gets off the bench at all) before he "gets it." I want a guy who will do what I described before, and that guy is Elson. Do it.
