Elson is going to sign with the jazz after a physical, and the deal will be guaranteed.

Will Fesenko go to Europe? Jazz keep the RFA rights then.

Depending on the contract, I think this is a great move by the Jazz. They are addressing needs. This will allow Jefferson to get more minutes at the 4....

Elson is fundamentally sound. He is 7 feet tall and will be there to play defense against opposing bigs. Good job, Jazz

Still would like an official statement about Fes though....

Ditto on all counts. Love it.

No reason to over pay for anyone this year or next. Tons of teams are overpaying and with the ceilings on salaries this is a great deal. Fes, you need a new agent.

nghedman this is just a reponse to your signature. It is Ole' Ole' Ole' Real Salt Lake. The Real Salt Lake is chanted instead of the long Oleeee Oooooleee or however it is spelled.

I see Elson as similar to Mikki Moore. Good for playing in a disciplined role, but I'm never really sold on their attitude for their role. Kinda like a dog that is obedient, but seems unhappy about it and might go out on his own someday.

I'm happy about the signing. I'm not sure he's a full 7 feet, but he'll do fine in limited minutes. Could we still sign Fes for the minimum?

Elson played well with Robinson. How will he handle Pau?

Decent signing...... He can give us 10 minutes of decent play every once in a while..... And that's all we need from him......

I'm betting we still re-sign Fes...... At least to the qualifying offer.......

Cool, nice to see that someone is looking at that stuff.

In fact I did it that way on purpose because though the Real fans change the chant to fit the team, the real soccer song/chant is all ole'. Kinda gives respect to those overseas.

I get the feeling that becuase he is so old the Jazz have their eyes on some of their centers that they drafted and havn't signed yet. Hope those pan out sometime soon..... maybe next year.

Oh, you think they *might* be keeping an eye on Tomic?

The other significant thing here is the flurry of tweets from the Trib's new beat reporter. @tribjazz had been silent for a long time.

I don't know that Elson's good enough to consistently be in the rotation when everybody's healthy. I'm not even sure he's good enough at this point in his career to beat Fesenko out for the third center spot (if we re-sign Fesenko). Having said that, I like this signing, especially if we re-sign Fesenko on top of it.

Elson's not the answer to all of our interior problems, but he's a veteran with length and championship experience and he'll give us some depth and insurance up front (which we desperately need). He'll be just fine as the fourth or fifth big in our rotation (actually, he could be more like fifth or sixth if AK gets time at PF). If nothing else, it's nice to see the Jazz do something after a two month dry spell in the activity department.

Nice vet backup big who has played on some good teams. Still waiting for the Fesenko to sign.

Elson to sign with Elson! So Elson must be a new up coming team, I guess signing a vet like this can get you a win or 2 in a long season

Nothing too exciting, but, nice anyway.

Definitely a "meh" signing, bt least its not a Jarron Collins return engagement. Elson gives us six fouls off the bench, but if he ends up playing more than 6 or 7 minutes a game, something went horribly wrong for us.

Bucks fan here. Elson was nothing short of awful for us. Dan Gadzuric beat him out for backup center minutes last year, so that's saying something. He doesn't do anything even below average.

Kind of a jackass too. Met him once, saw him out shopping, walked by him and said, "Hey Francisco..." he looked down at me and just gave me a sour face like, "Who dafugg you talkin' too?" It was the strangest sports figure ego ever.

I watched you guys and have seen Fesenko play. Fesenko > Elson.

this signing has my praying that Fesenko resigns and Elson never sees the court.
