All Time Worst Jazz Players

According to ESPN.com
1. John Amaechi 2002-03: 4.4 PER, by far the lowest of any player in NBA history
2. John Duren 1981-82: 5.7 PER, 3rd lowest of any player in NBA history (Nicholaz Tskitishvili was 2nd at 5.0)
3. Quincy Lewis 2000-02: 6.8 PER, I remember sitting courtside for a RMR game at the DC, and listening to Oliver Miller heckle Lewis from the bench saying, "Hey Quincy, 'those John Stockton's practice shorts? Hey Quincy..."
4. Mark Iavaroni 1986-89: 7.7 PER
5. John Starks 2001-02: 8.3 PER
A couple of things stand out here. Notice how many of these 5 actually started games for us. Also, notice that 3 of our 5 worst players of all time were here during the calendar year of 2002. Bad times. ha ha.

I always thought Quincy Lewis had potential. I certainly preferred him over Bryon Russell that last year. I'm still haunted thinking about all the times Russell drove the lane, threw his arms out to both sides like he was making a snow angel, and then argued with the ref about the no-call (which was the result of every single time he attempted this) while his man fast-breaked for a dunk.
And I was a huge John Starks fan back in the day. Shame he didn't have much left in the tank when we got him.

I think Quincy Lewis and C.J. Miles are similar type of players. The Jazz gave up on Quincy pretty fast, while C.J. has been given more chances to develop.

I respectfully disagree.
Quincy Lewis had narrow shoulders, poor athleticism, and never could shoot outside of 15 feet. The Jazz drafted him in the Scott Padgett in the same draft, and during the second season, gave both of them a chance to show why they should be kept on the roster. Padgett badly outperformed Lewis, which should say something as well. Interestingly he was the first of 3 first round picks in 99 at #19. AK was next, and Padgett last. Everyone though the Jazz would package the picks to move up.
Highlights from the draft (below #12) include: Maggette (13), Artest (16), James Posey (18), Jeff Foster (21), AK (24), Gordan Giricek (41), Francisco Elson (42), Manu Ginobli (57), Raja Bell (undrafted), Chris Anderson (undrafted), Milt Pilacio (undrafted).
CJ, though skinny/fat, has much broader shoulders. Has good vert, shows far superior ability to attack the hoop, and has much further range on his shot.
Quincy Lewis reminds me more of a Ronald Dupree.

After the Jazz opted not to Re-sign Lewis, he signed a 1 year deal with Minnesota, averaging 1 ppg, in 4.6 mpg...only appearing in 14 games. Quincy signed overseas the following year with maccabi tel aviv (respectable), but didn't last beyond the first season. I don't know what happened to him after that.

BUT...i must add, i did like him as a person. He was always respectful on the floor. And always obeyed Sloan's tucked in jersey rule to exact precision.

the "jazz" have been around for almost 40 years. utah jazz for 30-ish. they only started making the playoffs consistently for 25, including 2002. i think you can find a lot more crummy players from the 70's and early 80's that the jazz only threw on the team to play with pistol and AD. i think MAYBE you can find one from the last 10 years, but the majority of the list (statistically) SHOULD be from that early era.

The SLT ranked the all-time Jazz players last year. According to their rank Darryl Dawkins (Chocolate Thunder) is worst the Jazz player all-time.

Yeah I had higher hopes for Quincy Lewis as well. He's part of the Jazz "whoops! that didn't go quite as planned" swingmen group including Kirk Snyder, Chris Morris, Calbert Cheaney, Jamie Martin, DeShawn Stevenson, et al....) It's sad commentary when the best thing you can say about him was the AK-47 moniker that he suggested to Kirilenko...

Where's John Drew, Freeman Williams, and Kelly Tripuka? We got these guys for Dominque Wilkins and Adrian Dantley in separate deals. Most disappointing has to be Kirk Snyder (aka nut case); Stevenson (aka criminal), and Luther Wright (aka the ultimate nut case).

Lewis churned out a few decent years of European competition before retiring last summer.

I think the list is great, especially with Amaechi topping it.
Amaechi openly admitted not giving a flying #### about basketball, saying he did it just for the money and honestly trying to justify that. Then he b*tched and moaned about how he was treated, blaming it on Sloan's homophobia or whatever.
You look at any other job, you don't just do a crap job and expect everyone to understand and sympathize just because "i really don't like my job, it's not my thing." You don't have to like it but when the organization and fans are funding you with hundreds of thousands of dollars then you make an effort for them.
Guy was lazy, hated the game and always played the victim in a world he insisted should revolve around him.
He just sucked and I hated watching him play...at least guys like Jason Hart and Quincy Lewis brought desire.

I second this, and Brevin Knight during the 2nd half of his stint.

Radoijavic (or whatever his name is) was pretty special too.
