Well, it does come from clutchfans. Never has a more epic group of idiots been put together in one place. And if not epic, certainly the fattest group.

We like to consider them our rival since we can easily beat them. We need to call the Lakers our rival so when we do beat them it will be even sweeter. I know Lakers don't really consider us true rivals, since they easily beat us, and because everyone hates them so there's nothing special about the Jazz.

I actually think Portland is our biggest rival right now.

Our two stars are very similar players with Roy and Williams.
Over their 11 games facing each other Portland has won 6, Utah 5.
Over past 2 seasons Jazz have 103 wins, Portland has 104.
Both play reasonably slowly.
Same Division.
Great home courts.
Consistent playoff appearances.

In the 1990's the Jazz manhandled Kobe and the Lakers. Not too many teams can say that.

Nuggs, Lakers, Blazers, Rockets, Spurs. in that order.

Rivalries come and go just like players in today's NBA.

I also see the potential of a big rivalry between the Jazz and Blazers . Both teams had long streaks of playoff appearances. The Blazers have an owner with limitless pockets and have always had teams with a lot of multitalented players. The last couple of years they played hardball with the Jazz by going after their free agents. The Jazz owner doesn't have limitless pockets. The Jazz rely on coaching stability and unheralded, high BBIQ players who fit their system. The Jazz and Blazers played each other multiple times in the playoffs in the 1990's but were in different divisions. Since they joined the same division the two teams have not faced each other in the playoffs. If they meet up things could heat up pretty fast.

Houston is just seeing their playoff loses to us in perspective now. We crushed their last era (TMac + Yao) twice, and it might be a while until they see their next chance at HCA in the playoffs.

Ill never forget after we swept the Lakers in 1998, we were playing a 1999 season game on NBC hosted by Bob Costas in LA. The pregame buildup was about our intense rivalry with LA, how we've met them in the playoffs the last two years (and went 8-1). After the game started we were beating them down and Costas says "You know, everyone calls this a rivalry. But what I've seen over the last several years is just a good old fashioned butt kicking of the Lakers by the Jazz."

How sad things are when the tables are turned. I still maintain the refs stole the 2008 series from us in game 5 though :curse:

The Thunder could end up being a great rival.

Spurs and Rockets are the Rivals of the past!....now its the Lakers and i agree the Blazers.we even have a little history with them in the 90's. The thunder will soon become the Jazz's biggest rival.

The thunder and Jazz will be battling for the division for years to come. The blazers have some work to do before they are with us, but not much.
