This just means he is officially attending camp. Nothing more than that.

Each camp player has a non-guarranteed contract...i think.

Ryan Thompson is a stud. Hope he makes the roster and then sent to the NBDL to develop.

If the guy has good defense, I think I'm in love.

Wes Matthews 2.0?????

He's not Matthews 2.0. Thompson seems to have better athleticism and similar offensive arsenal, but by no means is a proven tough caracter and "on your chest" defender with the ability to gain ref's respect (those are the Matthews contributions we will certainly miss).
It's not fair with RT to compare him to Wesley... may be he has it in him, but we don't know.
Of course, he probably has enough in his tank to take Jeffers place.

His jumper seems a little slow and disjointed to me. Although it went in in 100% of those attempts :)

This is a non-story right? All camp guys sign contracts. Its non-guaranteed so he's technically not on the team yet.

Yeap, Thompson status is the same as Gaines or Jeffers.

Exactly, that's what I was thinking too, he sets up and shoots the ball a bit slow. He is a bit slow for a PG and seems a bit short for a two guard, but it might work. The Jazz do need a SG so I hope he gets better on his outside shot.

Thanks for highlight reel by the way.

For the rookie minimum, he looks just fine...... He's an upgrade over either Gaines or Jeffers.......

I heard his agent is Leon Rose, the same prick who represents Carmelo. If Thompson turns out to be a good player and is in the Jazz long term plan the first thing that needs to happen is that he changes his agent.

I can see where the concern is with his jumper, but, according to draftexpress, he's made some serious strides in that area. He shot extremely well in the pre-draft camp in Portsmouth.

Even if he hadn't improved his shot, though, it still looks about as good as Wesley's. Wesley got to the point where he was hitting threes at a very good percentage, but he was still shooting that uber-slow set shot. Thompson's jumper may still need some work, but it's not like Wesley came into the league with a lights-out shot (you can't even call his shot a jumper).

I doubt very much that Thompson can come in and make anywhere near the impact Wesley did (especially on the defensive end), but I'm not all that concerned about his jumper. In any case, he looks like a decent guy to take a flyer on.

He looks very athletic to me, twisting and turning in the air to make layups lends itself to athletism
