@NBARumorCentral Andrei Kirilenko might start at power forward for the #jazz this season. -- http://es.pn/b1zQjj about 14 hours

Poor Millsap can't catch a break!

Wow, rumors of who will be starting in the regular season when we are still 2 days away from playing our first preseason game.

Hah. They are probably having Millsap work on his 3-pointers to start at the 3 where his length isn't as much of a disadvantage. It's like what Sacramento is trying to do with Landry. LOL.

Yea, hopefully it makes sense from a trade perspective. Inflates AKs value, but starting Millsap would do the same to his value. So it's really question of which one would you prefer to either trade or overpay.

at the 4 is where Ak was an allstar.i think this is certainly a showcase move. Hayward has the smarts of Ak with a better shot.hopefully CJ can bring his speed and attacking the basket ability. Or are we just looking too much into the trade part of this and is this just simply they think he is our best overall 4.As i said last time Ak went crazy he was our 4.except Booz first year.Ak did well that year too when they were calling him the "fear factor"

I don't think Millsap's overpaid. In fact, I think it's very fair value. I want to keep AK, but if it's a basketball decision (taking the long-term into account) and one of them has to go (which they don't necessarily), Millsap is easily the guy you want to keep, in my opinion.

Mabey AK is a better player than Millsap.

Here is the most likely theory.

Millsap will be behind Jefferson once Okur returns. And Sloan wants to keep Millsap used to his bench role.

The hell, this is a shot at Millsap. Millsap has to start this season!

IMO, in this case, it really doesn't mater who'll be starting. Both AK and Sap will be playing 30+ minutes until Memo comes back. IMO our rotation will look something like this:

Deron(35)/Watson(13)
Bell (28)/CJ(20)
CJ(10)/AK(16)/Hayward (12)
AK(16)/Sap(32)
Jefferson(33)/Elson or Fes(15)

Are you implying that we are overpaying Millsap?

I'm fine with this. AK seems to play his best at pf, and provides some solid defense. Millsap,as a bench player, will become the focal point of the offense for the 2nd unit. Either player can start and its fine with me.

Both guys are going to get lots of time--I'm sure Sloan hasn't even figured out all his rotations he is going to go with yet. Way to early to get your panties in a bunch....

Question: Are we considered bigger starting AK at the 4 with Jefferson, or Sap at the 4 with Jefferson?

That's a good question. Sap is stronger and better on the boards, but AK is taller and longer. Not sure which one would be better. We'd definitely bigger with AK starting at the 3 though.

I've always thought AK should be the starting 4 with no Boozer. Millsap is great but I think we all know his true calling is a sixth man. He has had stretches where he played really well at the starting 4 but he gets in too much foul trouble, is undersized and has shown to run out of steam after a month or more of starting.

AK has always played better as a starter and we all know he belongs at the 4 spot. Jefferson is a bigger version of Millsap anyways so it would make some sense. I would be fine with it.

But I should mention that Millsap was mentioned as a stone-cold for sure starter. I wouldn't be putting much thought into it.

Also, don't trade AK and don't start him just to inflate his value. It's just stupid...

No problem with me. AK has proven to play better as a starter, and Sap has proven to play very well coming off the bench. As long as AK doesn't get overpowered by some of the PFs in this league. Time will tell.

Plus, it's just a rumor...
