Wow, where do the Jazz find guys like Evans? Another 2nd round pick, he looks like another steal. I know this is preseason, but the jazz's success finding guys in the 2nd round is crazy As a fan I am rooting that Hayward is worth the pick, but watching these two guys, I think many people would assume that Evan was our 1st rounder.

Hopefully he can develop a move as quick as his body. He seems to have a good feel for the rebound, but if he's got the ball he seems lost.

Only thing he's lacking is a little weight, and a little courage.

He'll definitely build weight over time, and he'll get more and more confidence each game. Utah continues to find diamonds in the rough.

He looks great to me! Nice to know the Jazz organization has a knack for making the most out of 2nd round picks!

If only the Jazz had enough confidence in their own picking skills to risk the kind of 2+1+1 low-risk team options contracts the Rockets hand out to lock up their finds. Matthews could have been locked up for three more seasons at $750,000 a year. It's amazing what players trying to make it in the NBA will do for a little security. If they don't work out, let them walk after the second season.

For a 2nd round pick they do. But for Matthews, he was undrafted. You will probably never see an undrafted rookie have the kind of success that Matthews had to warrant a huge payday in year 2. I wouldnt be surprised if I lived the rest of my life and didnt see another story like that....

At the same time I'm not sure why so many are down on Hayward. He's shown spurts of extremely solid play and decision making. He handles the ball better than AK, has passed well and gets to the line. He's shown he can hit the NBA 3, despite his shooting %'s being low so far.

I think the only thing in his way is confidence. He seemed to gain a lot of it during the 2nd half of last nights game and it reflected in his play.

Funny thing is that the Jazz got railed for taking him in the 2nd round. Why any 2nd round pick that late in the draft would be considered a bad pick...beats me but there ya go.

The guy can handle the ball, can drive, can pass, can get to the line and it seems he can play decent defense. And although he's been shooting like crap, he was always thought to be a good shooter. He has all the tools. He needs to get stronger, but I think he might become a pretty good player.

The guy can handle the ball, can drive, can pass, can get to the line and it seems he can play decent defense. And although he's been shooting like crap, he was always thought to be a good shooter. He has all the tools. He needs to get stronger, but I think he might become a pretty good player.

Unfortunately, the reason everyone is down on Hayward is because he was a top 10 pick (also a controversial pick with fans). I think its the idea that the Jazz very rarely, get a pick that high and so we expect him to play up to that status. Add to it, the fact that our 2nd rounder has looks so good and people are naturally going to be a little disappointed. Again its just preseason and I really hope Hayward pans out, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Evans ends up our best player from last draft.

Yeah...everyone wants a superstar and they want him now. I don't expect Hayward to blow anyone away extremely soon but I think with time he will turn out to have been a very solid pick. With all of his tools, he just can't not eventually pan out. He's been down on himself lately and that's just going to make him play worse...although he still ended up with a decent line tonight vs. the Clips.

My prediction is that around January we will really see him start to get comfortable and confident. Then we can really begin to gauge and predict his potential with the team.
