I think nichols is for sure gone, but I'm not sure on Jeffers and Gaines. The coaches seem to still really like them both. If it were me I'd keep Jeffers, but I'm not sure what the coahces are gonna do.

Didn't think we'd cut 4...

Kinda surprising that we cut all 4. Leaves us fairly thin if we get injured. But then again I doubt anyone will pick up Jeffers from the D-League. Sunny D will find a home. Maybe the Jazz are looking to pick up one of the recently waived players. ie: Tiny Gallon, Strawberry, etc.

I'm shocked that they cut all 4.

I'm not suprised it's a numbers game. I thought they would only keep Evans. You can pick up a player like Gaines last year that is in better flow of accually playing from the D-League. That way you are not pulling a game cold player from the end of your bench. Plus you don't have to worry about the send and call back restrictions of the D-League of someone on your roster.

I wanted Jeffers to stay.

I think they cut 4 in case some veteran is cut by another team they may want to sign becomes available. The Jazz can always pick up one of these guys when needed as none are going to go anywhere but the D league. By cutting 4 players though and Memo out, it leaves the practices a little short on players.

I would have really liked to see Jeffers stay. If there was ever a "Sloan Player", Jeffers was it.

KOC said Evans, Hayward progress affected cuts...
Sloan already said (yesterday I think) they would probably go with 13 guys.

So this is the roster depth chart?
Williams / Watson / Price
Bell / Miles
Kirilenko / Hayward
Millsap / Evans
Jefferson / Fesenko / Elson / Okur
I'm surprised Jeffers didn't make it given his position. D-League? We still have flexibility, just not traditional flexibility. I mean, instead of a swingman moving up or down a position, we can run point guards as shooting guards, and we can run centers as power forwards. We are deep at the 1 and the 5.
If we don't pick someone up, it means more time for the rookies! That makes me excited.

Considering the Jazz run mostly a 1-2-2 offense, I think depth is good eoungh at all five spots.
The least populated spots (PG and SF) would be 3 depth.

I was hoping the Jazz would have held on to at least Thompson. Jeffers also looked good. I am little bit concerned about the depth at the wing positions. Bell is coming of a season long injury, Miles has yet to have a solid whole season, Kirilenko is injury prone, and Hayward and Evans are rookies. It just seems the Jazz are more interested in saving money. Maybe Okur is closer to returning than was originally reported. He was supposed to be evaluated during the middle of this month. I haven't heard anything about that.

If injury does hit, the FO has always been good at picking up someone to fill the need. I'm not too worried.

There's was a time Jazz wings were pretty loaded: AK, Miles, Brewer, Matthews, Korver, Jeffers, last year
Almond, Miles, AK, Korver, Brewer and Harpring in 2009
Brewer, Miles, AK, Almond, Korver and Harpring in 2008....
Now we are only 4 guys for SF/SG.... (Maybe some time to Price or Watson at SG???)

Deron can take time at SG against smaller lineups....especially if Watson proves to be worthy of more minutes...
