DWill wants changes!

Dwill is frustrated and wants changes. He basically wants to simplify the offense which is what I have been calling for bc of the new (not so smart) players-Jefferson. Just go to the passing game for a while sloan with some down screens. He also requested from Sloan a group film session which Sloan doesnt do which surprised me that he didnt do that. I would have expected group film sessions had happened in the past. If it continues to go downhill, Sloan may be gone for Corbin.

I do like the fact that Dwill is being a leader and wants to change the status quo. He never would have stood up to Sloan in the past.

I don't think the simplifying is because Jefferson is slow at learning or not a smart player. Actually I think he understands the game pretty well. I feel it's more then Big Al learning the system it is taking a player out of his comfort zone and teaching him a new way to play. He has to redevelop his habits in a game situation.... Key is he is trying.

I like Sloan, but I do wish he was more open to his leader. DWill is with the guys in the trenches, if he feels they need a group film session Sloan shouldn't always question, he should get it set up and support his leader.

I have faith that these guys are who I thought they were at the beginning and they will get this figured out. And once they do they will make up for these losses 10 fold.

That sucks. Don't let Sloan go. There's no available championship caliber coaches out there.

No group film sessions? Why not?

 Yep. Very likely scenario. Maybe we can trade Sloan for Durant and Jeff Green.

Anyway, that's an incredibly misleading headline to the story. Makes it sound like he's demanding a trade.

Group film sessions seem like a good idea. And Deron wasn't all that whiny in the article, which is what I went in expecting. As far as understanding the offense, that's obviously going to come together. Hayward is an extremely intelligent guy (who hasn't been THAT out of sync anyway, despite the high-profile moment the other night), and Jefferson, while not Einstein or Faulkner, is not an idiot.

At least Deron's acknowledging the need to play harder. I just hope he knows he's Issue #1 in that regard.

EDIT: Re-reading it, I think I missed some pretty clear, nonconstructive sarcasm through much of what he said. And he appears to be blaming a lot on Sloan. He does make one good point -- about watching game film as a team, if it really doesn't ever happen -- but I HATE Deron trying to pass the buck. Would John Stockton ever do that?

It's a little early for this.

Interesting interview. DWill was seemed to be suggesting that coaching wise there are some problems. We glad he spoke up, obviously, he is as frustrated as a lot of fans and wants to see some changes.

No, thanks. Jazz give up the best player in the trade (one who knows the system and has a huge expiring contract) for three years of needless cap burden in the form of an over-the-hill Rip. Plus, as much as CJ's been playing like garbage this season, Tayshaun's six years older and he'd be a lot more expensive to re-sign.

Two games! Hello, we have had two games, not half a season, just two games. We seem light at SGSF positions because CJ is playing poorly, and Big Al looks overpowered against some Cs, but he is out of position. Dwill is just not playing hard enough, looks like he thinks he is so good he doesn't have to give 100%, he'll realize this soon. As a team they aren't setting good screens, and they don't seem to rotate well. Nothing to worry about really, give it ten games.

My thing with all this is: Where was that during the preseason?

During the preseason our offense didn't look this bad at all. Anything but. That's why I think something may have happened to DWill that took has taken his mind off things and is the main reason why we've looked as bad as we've looked so far.

I've been asking myself the same question, I mean....I know it was only preseason but they ran the offense in preseason well enough and enough times you would think it would translate even a little bit but it's like they totally forgot how to play. Same thing on the defensive end, we look like a totally different team than we did in the preseason. There is absolutely no resemblance between the two teams right now...I just don't get it.

I wonder what the personal reason was for him missing the last pre season game. That may have something to do with what's going on with him.

Let's see, D-Will has been playing like crap, showing questionable leadership skills and is now essentially blaming Sloan in the media... after two games. Doesn't bode well for a harmonious season.

One thing I don't understand, I've been watching Jazz basketball since the late '80s and I've never heard any talk about how complicated the system is and how hard it is for players to learn and/or adapt to. Now, players are talking about it like it's quantum physics. The only thing Karl Malone had a PhD in was advanced redneckery and he seemed to understand the system just fine.

I think we should start Jefferson with Fes; Al needs to play PF and so far I don't like him and Millsap at the same time. Then give Sap big minutes as the primary 6th man, taking all this pressure of CJ. Don't make Sap the starter just because you don't want to hurt his feelings. He's a tough-minded player and as long as he gets his minutes it shouldn't matter.

I don't know what to think about Williams. He has some good ideas, but I don't like his attitude. He has the right idea but the wrong approach to it.

Whenever he's frustrated he can't control his reaction, i.e. his blowup on Hayward vs. Phoenix. It would have been much more effective to take Hayward aside afterward and patiently explain what he was supposed to do, after maybe commending him on how well he actually played.

Or just publicly embarrass him by freaking out with the ball in play. Whatever you think being a leader really means, Deron.

I think everyone is lacking trust in their team mates as well as themselves. I see so many open shots not taken which lets the other team catch up defensively and the clock running down than we are forced to make an even tougher shot. We just need to set strong screens and run harder routes and take the open shot or pound it in side. I mean really take it inside not just settle for the back board layup but stuff it in the basket. We just need to play inside out, draw fouls, slow down the game and loose the egos. D Will needs to lead the team and get on the veterans ass as well not just the rookies. I see everyone making mistakes, It seems to me like D will has it out for Evans and Hayward. Also the other vets we have on the team needs to step up as well. We got Elson, Bell and Watson for a reason and its not just their game.

Williams has always managed to speak some nonsense here and there.
The number one reason for such horrid performances has clearly been Deron Williams lack of... welll... lack of just about everything... he's playing like crap and with a highly questionable attitude... it's as simple as that.

Stop whining about group therapy man. Start with yourself, because if you don't... well... I have some news for you: there's no shortage of darn good point guards in the NBA right now, and some of them probably will end up eating you for breakfast sooner than later man. Go out there and put your act together and stop jackpotting around...
