Jason Thompson?

Looks like the Kings are heavily shopping Jason Thompson. I've always liked his game and I think he would be a good fit here in Utah if you can get him for cheap. Atlanta just turned down a deal for him where the Kings only wanted Jeff Teague...

How about trying to give them Hayward and maybe a second round pick or two? Doesn't sound like they are asking for much so this could be a possibility if they have any interest in Hayward and if no one else is biting.

He could give us more length, athleticism, shot blocking and another solid back-up to bolster our bench. He would also cause more of a jam between the 3-4 spots (this is where I imagine him playing since he is so athletic but he can play the 5) but that isn't the worse thing in the world for our team. Maybe we could even bring back his brother too... Thoughts?

I don't want to give up on Hayward after 10 games.

Neither do I but the question is do you want to wait and see if he develops, or do you want to take something more proven? Thompson also adds more size/length than Hayward ever would. Depends on what you value more...

Maybe you could get him for something else? Not sure what but you could always try...

Hmmm.

I think Hayward could play a larger role for the Jazz down the road. Possibly being a starting 2 or 3.

Thompson would be stuck in the rotation behind Jefferson, Millsap, and Okur. He'd be a nice 4th big, no doubt. I'd love to have him, but, I think we're a little weaker at the SG position than PF position right now. I don't really want to trade from need to strength.

Of course if the front office has decided that Hayward is a bust, by all means go out there and salvage something for him. But, if they think he can be a quality starting 2 or 3 in the league I think they'd have to say no thanks.

Does anyone think this trade idea is plausible?

Jason Thompson to OKC
Green to Utah
Hayward to Sacramento

We might have to send Watson or somebody as filler.

Honestly I think I'd rather have Thompson. But Bat summed it up quite well: Jazz need wing help, not PF help.

Green gives us wing help. He'd be like Harpring.

How about shipping out Memo for Thompson instead of Hayward?

I would like to get Green here, I've been a fan of his since he played in college but if you want to make a run at him you might as well wait until he is FA in the off-season with the AK money....which we won't since we won't need him compared to other positions....

I forgot about Okur. I really don't like the idea of giving up on Hayward so soon. I also forgot Green didn't get an extension. So this trade is dead.

No way in hell we could turn Hayward into Jeff Green, high as I am on Gordon. And OKC would be foolish to give him up for Thompson. Speaking from a talent standpoint, without contract considerations.

Kings are looking for a good young combo guard type, not a SF. Utah doesn't have what it takes to get either Thompson or Green at this point unless they use their TPE to eat some salary or something crazy.
