Less minutes for the starters.

Post#1 » by Jazzfan12 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:41 pm

Deron and AK are playing too many minutes right now and Evans is playing too few. Agree or disagree? I think Deron and AK need to play less to stay healthy this season.

I read this morning on twitter saying Deron is 5th in the league for mpg and 2nd in overall minutes. This is too much for a guy who already looks banged up 15 games into the season.

I agree about Deron playing too many minutes but AK on the other hand...I believe he needs to play more minutes. He only averages 25ish a night. Deron obviously needs to play less minutes, he is already starting to show some health issues because of it.

Especially given how well Watson's played of late, I definitely think Deron should be playing fewer minutes. There was a stretch where we virtually couldn't afford to rest him, especially in the second half, but I think we're past that. Even if we're not, I don't think it'd be worth it in the long run to overwork Deron.

Watson's playing well enough to keep the team afloat and even ignite some big runs and the more experience he gets running the system, the better he'll get. I really don't get why Jerry waited so long to pull Deron last night. He didn't even really need to put him back in in the 4th.

Deron plays too many minutes. We need to give Price more minutes...he plays like a guy fighting to stay in the league and that energy more than compensates for his mistakes....

Yeah, I haven't been a fan of Price before, but he's playing really good right now.

Watson is a pure point guard. I think he should get the minutes to rest D-Will. I've always felt like Ronnie Price works better as a 2-guard and he should continue to play that position while earl backs up D-Wil.

Fewer minutes for AK?
No way.
I think playing minutes KEEPS him healthy.
Why was he pulled so early last night by the way?

I would like to see Bell and Jefferson play less, and Miles and Fes play more. Also would like more minutes for Watson.

Seeing Deron play after a 20 point lead on a bum leg last night was enraging me.

Sloan should have emptied the bench way sooner than he did. Starters need a good amount of rest for the next two games.

I know i was not happy about seeing DWill in the 4th either. I think the Watson and Price line up does well out there i hope they see a good amount of time the next two games and the season!

has anybody else noticed the +/- between the first and second units for the last few games, especially in the first half? it's been the second unit that's brought the team back from the deficit built by the first unit. and yes, with deron on the bench.

Our defense with Price, Watson, AK and Elson on the floor is much better. And as long as CJ creating the Jazz bench is solid. They are quick, they can force TO's and get easy buckets.

Deron's minutes have been really high cause of the 7(?) come backs, and so many tight games. Watson and Price have been solid of late, William's numbers will surely start to drop soon.

This team is just playing too many minutes right now. My purposed rotation:

PG: Deron Williams (24), Earl Watson (12), Gordon Hayward (12)
SG: Raja Bell (24), CJ Miles (12), Ronnie Price (12)
SF: AK47 (12), Gordon Hayward (12), CJ Miles (12), Jeremy Evans (12)
PF: Paul Millsap (24), Francisco Elson (12), AK47 (12)
C: Al Jefferson (24), Memo Okur (12), Kyrelo Fesenko (12)

I heard on 1320 tonight that the starting 5 for the Jazz have played more minutes than any other combination of players in the league. That is insane! They are just asking for injuries to happen. It would be nice if they could get some more production from the bigs off the bench, and I'm dying to see CJ become reliable. That's the key to winning games against teams like the Heat.
