AK for Iggy?

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Tue Dec 7, 2010 2:01 pm

Would you guys be interested in a trade surrounding these two players?

Personally I think the Jazz are still lacking a perimeter scorer to play next to Deron, and as much as AK does for the Jazz, a dynamic offensive wing player is more likely to get you a championship than a versatile SF with a suspect jump shot and a history of injuries.

What about a deal like AK, Evans and Fes for Igoudala and Kapono?

76ers get out of their deal with Igoudala early, and remove Kapono who is doing nothing for them right now. It also frees up space for Evan Turner to move in the back court and build towards the future of their team.

Jazz get a wing guy to play next to Deron with a skillset equal to a very rich mans version of Ronnie Brewer. We also add a shooter for the rest of the year, and IMO are a much more complete team come playoff time.

Just thinking about the Jazz/76ers trade history together, and wondering if this type of deal has been discussed at all.

Just wondering what you guys would think of a deal like that?

Deron/Watson
Bell/Price/Kapono
Igoudala/CJ
Millsap/Okur
Jefferson/Elson

Iggy is a scorer but he will not provide the floor stretching that the Jazz need. He is signed to a contract that is highly inflated compared to his on court value.

I think it's possible in case we case we can have AK back thru waive procedure. This way we don't need Kapono and just can add Evans or fess. This would be scary team.

This seems pretty viable and then it turns into a salary dump for Philly, since Andre is on the final year of his contract.

I want AK to retire as a Jazz man.

Tempting but no thanks.

AK is far too valuable to this team and his expiring contract will be really nice to have at the end of the season.

Also, you're crazy to think you could get Evans and Fes along with AK in a deal for Iggy. It would be AK straight up or it wouldn't happen. Iggy isn't worth 3 players...

I would love to have Iggy on this team, but I would also love to see AK retire with the Jazz and give us a discount next year. I would be happy either way. I could see a guy like Iggy really making this team very good, but AK has been that guy this season to this point, other than a couple games. It would be a tough decision if we could do the trade straight up.

My head says it's fair. My heart says no, I want to keep AK. My wiener doesn't know what to think.

After a game like last night where AK looked positively inept on offense this kind of trade is very tempting, but I think the Jazz are probably better off with AK going forward. I have serious doubts that such a mid-season trade would have a net positive effect on this team. I think it could be too disruptive.

After this week we will see how much Ak is a part of our team. Against the best teams in the league our offense runs through his passes and wing scoring ability. Do i think Iggy would work here? You bet i do but i like how our team is playing right now. When Memo comes back i think we are going to be that much better to put us with the elite in the league and we are basically right there now.

Isn't that exactly what Iggy is? He's an iron man, but I'm not sure he'd be the one getting us over the top. This is a lateral move IMO and it kills our cap space for the next few years. If we're trading AK, we should be getting a guy who will make us a surefire contender. Iggy is probably the best player available out there, but I'm not sure he's worth the gamble.

I think Kirilenko is incredibly overrated on this board. I love his versatility, and I love the things he can do, but he's missing 20 games a season on average over the past 6 years, a quarter of the season. His numbers drop in the playoffs every year, and I don't see him getting better as we go forward.

I think Iggy playing next to a legit PG who has proven to make big time athletes better players would be huge for this team. I know he isn't a great shooter either, but he gives this team athleticism from the win that we've never seen before. He's a better rebounder and passer than AK, and he's a better scorer. He isn't as versatile of a defender, but I think he could make this team much more complete in a traditional sense.

But I was just wondering what you guys thought, obviously this is far fetched and unlikely to happen.

Are the downsides.

However; the fact that Raja Bell has not panned out, and Iggy would definitely improve the overall team, makes me willing to take him on if there is a way to get AK back.

I disagree that Iggy is a better passer and rebounder than Andrei. Andrei is one of the best passers at his position

When was this decided?

In my view he's been EXACTLY what I expected him to be. I'm 100% satisfied with his contributions to the team so far.

Hy guys, Heat fan here. I have a great deal of respect for the Jazz organization and Jerry Sloan. I'm looking foward to the rematch tonight, good luck.
When I first saw the rumors of the Sixers dealing Iggy, the first team that came to my mind was the Jazz. If you guys can find a way to grab Iggy, without moving Deron, Big Al and Milsap I thing that you should pull the trigger. Lets be honest, the Jazz has a great team right now, but the Lakers are better, and Kirilenko best years are way behind him (altough I didnt know that you guys are so high on him). Iggy playing for Jerry Sloan (my favorite coach) and with Deron (my favorite PG) would not have to be the number 1 option on offense and he could play of the ball, hitting 3's and driving on Deron's assists. And he is a very good on D. Just my 2 cents.

Iguodala is a nice player, but outside of his athleticism is he really too special? The guy has clearly regressed over the last four years, atleast statwise, and he's still 26, doesn't really say much about him if you ask me. He's the 2nd option right now behind Elton Brand who's just averaging 15.7, yet he can only put up 13.9ppg in 37.5mpg. Outside of his apg, he really doesn't have anything on Kirilenko per minute wise. Then there is AK's impact that doesn't make it to the boxscore, like simple man to man defense, contesting shots, drawing charges, blocks after the foul (they don't count those) to prevent the bucket, and so on

I don't think that anyone expected Bell to return to averging 15 PPG, and having a killer three, but I didn't expect that to fall in half.

In the Jazz system, they are at their best when then SG averages 15+, and is a 3 PT theat to open up the paint. That being said:

1) Deron being a high scorer himself changes the formula a little bit,
2) I'm not sure that Iggy is the perfect solution as slashing to the rim does not necessarily open up the middle.
