A letter to my fans

A LETTER TO MY FANS:
When I signed with the Bulls this summer I couldn't have been more excited. To play for such a globally known and storied franchise--a team I grew up watching as a kid--is a dream come true. I have so many childhood memories of watching MJ, Scottie and all those great Bulls teams--the first championship against the Lakers, both Three-peats, the 72-win season-to me, Jordan is the best player ever, and to watch him dominate the '90s was awesome. I knew I was joining a great young team, and the opportunity to play alongside a true center in Joakim and a great young point guard like Derrick is truly amazing. D-Rose could be the best point guard in the world when all is said and done.
Before I got here I already knew Bulls fans were the best in the NBA. You work your butts off to pay for tickets--true hardworking, blue collar fans--and I know how loud the UC gets when things heat up. I've been so impressed with the city since moving downtown. There's so much going on: the restaurants, the people, the electric atmosphere just walking around. It's so alive. It's right up my alley.
I've been around some great coaches in my career, but Coach Thibodeau is more prepared than anyone I've seen. His playbook is huge! He was a big reason why I came to Chicago, and you can already see the passion and energy he brings to the game. After I signed I made sure to talk with Coach Thibodeau, Gar Forman and John Paxson about getting my former Jazz teammates Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer on board. Kyle is a dead-eye shooter who can spread the floor, and Ronnie is a freak athlete who can get important stops on "D" in the last five minutes of a game. Both guys are going to open it up for me and Derrick so we can go to work in the lane.
Watching my teammates from the bench is tough, and I'm so anxious to get back. My recovery from a broken hand is progressing on schedule, and I hope to be back on the floor very soon. When on the court I'm a ferocious competitor who's going to mix it up in the paint--I'll be doing a lot of posting up and high pick and roll with Derrick--but for me it's the intangibles. I bring leadership, focus and a big-time hunger to win. The great thing about our team is we have a group of guys with that same hunger. It's contagious.
Finally, my goal is to win an NBA Championship. I was on some great teams in Utah that went deep into the Playoffs, but I don't have the ultimate prize. That's why I came to Chicago, to bring the championship back to Chicago where it belongs. My teammates and the entire organization all have that championship DNA, and if we stay healthy I believe we have the pieces in place to win it all.
See you at the UC soon,
Carlos Boozer
What do you think about me now?
Too much to think and digest at the moment. I do know that I don't like it.

What's not to like? Good for Booze for reaching out and doing some PR for his new team. Who cares anyway? Would you rather have Booze over AJ? Would you prefer that he stayed for a similar contract? Would you prefer that he didn't agree to the S&T that provided a trade exception that allowed the Jazz to get AJ? Get over it. It's so ridiculous that this even matters to Jazz fans...

+1. Thank you. My thoughts exactly, seriously, some fans are like psycho ex girlfriends. Let Boozer go, let go of the hate. I would rather hear more about what our current players are doing.

Well and on top of that GP, I don't think that the Jazz are sitting at 16-6 with Booze... I think they're middle of the division. It's speculation I understand, but I don't think that the Jazz have Watson, Bell, or Elson if Booze stays. And those three have been huge in terms of contribution this year.

It does appear to be a backhanded diss on the Jazz, but I don't really care. I'm glad he's gone and that all the drama and "injuries" that come with Carlos Boozer are another team's problems. Also, Boozer's dreaming if he thinks the Bulls are even close to being a championship team. The Jazz are much closer to championship caliber than the Bulls IMO.

I am actually a still a bit of a fan of his and wish him the best. I think that his "letter" is a form letter with fill in the blanks. Some of the lines are so over the top cheesy. I think he is a bit two faced and only says what he thinks people want.

Sort of a good ending both ways if you ask me. Boozer was obviously a "big city" guy and Chicago fits the bill. He is on a good team that could be very dangerous in the playoffs. For us, we improved our defense, added the center we have needed for years, and when Memo comes back our depth chart will be insane. I am excited to see how the next 60 games play out.

I don't see the "two faced" nature of his comments, but perhaps that's because I am fine with him being a member of the Bulls and working to give everything he can to his new organization. Good on him for working the excite his fan base and new team.

I am fine with him being a member of the Bulls. I wouldn't minded if he stayed or left.
He does a lot of praising to the Chicago area, their fans, and Rose, which some of them aren't even that true. He never said anything good about about SLC.
Whatever... I will let it go.
I just thought that some people would find the letter interesting.

I get what you're saying, but I recall Boozer talking kindly about Utah and the fans as well in his time here.
I think that players have somewhat an obligation to praise their new home and new fan base. Particularly when they just signed a huge contract that carries with it huge expectations; especially in a city that has been home to the greatest basketball dynasty ever to have played. They brought Boozer in because they feel his skills when combined with their team could raise their previous level. I agree and think they'll enjoy good success with Boozer. I applaud that he wants to win a championship with the Bulls and would submit he wanted to with the Jazz as well, regardless of what his naysayers would say.

He will find out that the city that he already loves can be incredibly hard on their bulls, and he is going to get the brunt of the criticism when he has his special Boozer nights against the likes of Gasol. Great for him to be so happy about his situation even though he hasn't proven a damn thing to those fans. Incredibly self centered. Al is the opposite, so that is awesome.
BTW Boozer, DWill is and always will be eons better than DRose.

Why do I care?
He said all the right things when he was here in Utah (except the thing about opting out) and now he is saying all the right things up in Chi town. It's what he does...

Wow...all that was missing is a Christmas hug! Don't know why this is Jazz news. Maybe Boozer could just televise his decision to pull himself off the injured list.

Meh. What do you expect him to say?
"Dear fans, I came to Chicago because they offered me the most money."

I thought that this would get more play. When they read this on 1280 today there were a ton of callers and texters mocking him about this.
I am not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill... I don't remember him ever saying the right things while here. I also think it is funny that he talks about being a great leader, usually when you have to say that it isn't true. Also the fact that he is a fierce competitor... just like when he played when sore against PHX and took fooooooorever to comeback from his boo-boos.

That's just Booz, and when he moves on from Chi-Town he'll say the same thing in New Jersey

Well if he would of thanked the Jazz organization and it's fans it would be nice, but I have no beef with the guy. I feel he gave 100% effort for us out there, he was just a terrible defender, but not all players can play both offense and defense efficiently. I think his injuries were legit, if not we have the stupidest front office ever, cause you're paying the guy millions to be in a suit? Yeah I don't think so.
In the end, he didn't just walk out on us, we helped us with a sign and trade to get that TPE to land Al Jefferson. That's big of him, and now we're even better. I wish him nothing but the best.
