Suns/Magic do trade

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Sat Dec 18, 2010 9:06 pm

Suns/Magic did trade which basically revamped their rosters with the Suns looking they are rebuilding. Suns get Vince Carter in deal who i expect the Suns to promptly trade away. Do the Jazz, like Orlando, make a big trade to try to win it all?

Vince Carter and Grant Hill for AK-47 and Hayward anyone? Jazz sacrafice future to go for it.

Jazz lineup:

PG Dwill Watson
SG Carter Bell/Price
SF Grant Hill Miles
PF Millsap Elson/Memo
C Jefferson Elson/Memo
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

That's actually a nice line up.

Bell doesn't have it on the offensive end anymore, renown choker like Carter is still better Bell.
Hill can give you the same things Kirilenko can.

I would not do this trade, but at times I wish Utah was more proactive in trades.

I really wish we could have gotten JRich. I like his game, and I think he could have added that oomph that we are missing at the wing. I was thinking that as I watched him play last night, but oh well.

trading AK 47 a defensive stalwart for freaking Vince Carter is a surefire way to piss Deron Williams, if you think he got lippy with AK during his emo phase in between a playoff run, he will HATE carter come playoff time.

If there was a list of players that would least fit with the Jazz style and mentality Vince Carter would be on it.

Grant Hill is one of my favorite players, but Vince Carter is an albatross.

Wizards were so desperate to get rid of Gil and all the bad mojo that comes with him in DC that they picked up one of the most overpriced players in the NBA. Lewis is really really bad for someone making that much jack.

Hill's contract with Phoenix ends at the end of the year and with the money we'll have to spend you gotta wonder if we make a run at him. I've always felt like he was a Utah Jazz type player, but just how much is he going to cost, he's having a pretty good season at the age of 38.

I definitely would prefer to see the Jazz more pro-active in tailoring their roster through trades, and they can certainly be too patient in waiting for results, but... I'm glad they don't over-react in the midst of a rough stretch as Orlando is doing. In the long run, these trades could turn out very badly for them.

I don't agree with the sentiment to trade AK at all. His length, athleticism, bb IQ and playmaking would be impossible to replace in a trade; it seems some posters discount those aspects of his game which have been critical to Jazz's success this season. Further, there will be no player available this summer we could afford to sign who brings everything to the game AK does.

To me, if the Jazz are going to make a trade, CJ is the player the Jazz could afford to move- and he has some value. I believe he is close to his ceiling and will never consistently make good choices with the basketball. He is overly enamored with the long ball, and when he drives his decision making is suspect at best. He lacks a developed mid-range game and never pulls up to shoot the mid-range J. His defense is okay, certainly not good enough to be the defining aspect of his game. Has he stepped up his game this year? Absolutely, and I expect him to continue to improve incrementally, but his approach and his game do not fit the Jazz. Further, with a couple seasons experience, I fully expect Hayward to offer everything CJ does with a better understanding of the game and how the Jazz try to play.

More than likely, however, the Jazz will keep the team intact and work to foster that incremental improvement from within. It may be a boring approach, but over time it has proven successful; unless one defines success according to the number of championships won.

I like the wiretap "Orlando's goal is nothing short of championship". With these trades, they definitely are sending a message to dwight and fans. A lot of teams say the same thing, but in reality their goal is to make the playoffs or just improve a little. Not a magic fan, but it will be fun to see how they can integrate all the new talent.
