AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
It looks like Charlotte is trying to rid itself of salary and rebuild. According to sources they are considering Andre Miller and Camby for Diop and Wallace. Why would you want 2 players at the end of their careers.
Ak has more future than either player and fits perfectly the new uptempo offense Silas is installing. Fes or Price could be throw ins.
This saves Jordan 19M next year.
How often can you get an all star SF with all of the upside Wallace has? Go for it O'Connor, plus it doesn't strap us long term to resign CJ and Millsap. Memo walks after next year.
Do it now. Thoughts?

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
Aw you beat me to it! I was just getting on to propose an Ak for Wallace trade.
My thoughts were AK, filler, and picks for Wallace and either 1. Matt Carroll or 2. Tyrus Thomas.
1. Matt Carrol sucks. But realistically Charlotte would need some incentive; taking Carroll off their hands provides that. It makes it rough for us financially in years to come, the question is if Wallace alone can push us over the edge. Charlotte on the other hand has Ak coming off the books next year, letting them either resign him on the cheap or let him go.
2. Wallace and Thomas together would add athleticism and a boost both offensively and defensively for the Jazz. If traded, Thomas' contract is rendered to a Base Year Compensation, where I believe the Jazz pay less for him than his current contract. Charlotte is less likely to go for this, if it went down it would involve a little more going to them...possibly one of our rookies. We probably couldn't resign a few players anyway after taking Wallace and Thomas on.
Deron, Watson, Price
Bell, Miles, Price, Deron
Wallace, Miles, Hayward (If not traded)
Millsap, Thomas, Okur, Evans (if not traded)
Jefferson, Okur, Fes (if not traded)
I don't know if it's worth it or not. If you could say, with confidence, that this pushes us over the top as contenders then I would hope the Jazz bite the bullet financially.
It's a crapshoot though...there's no way to know. The Jazz are a smart, conservative organization, but sometimes it takes a risk or two to push a team to the top.
* I wonder if Bell has made any suggestions to management?

If the Bobcats are going to trade someone its more likely that they'll trade Stephen Jackson, not Wallace.

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
Im not sure they are rebuilding per se but willing to to make trades to make them better. They are even looking at Baron Davis which is a sign they want to win now not rebuild. (side note: Not that Baron Davis is worth anythng in my opinion). So Jordan is an idiot ready to get ripped off BUT does this suggested trade make us better. Im not really sure. One thing Im pretty sure of after last year is that if the Jazz do make a deal lowering the salary cap hit is a priority over winning a championship.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Big Wallace fan would love him on the JAzz. Love Fes too and as much as i hate to say it, he would be better off elsewhere. He has talent which is wasting away on our bench. Especially if Tomic is coming over next year too.

YES.
I freaking love Wallace, he would be an awesome fit here too. TT or Diaw in the deal would be a dream.
If you have any chance at landing Wallace along with TT or Diaw for AK + filler and maybe some picks...you do that in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't mind Wallace, Jackson, Diaw, Thomas(might make just a little too much for my liking but isn't terrible), or even Diop for the right price.
Ak and Fes for those two might be too good. It gives us more depth on the wing but it doesn't really help with the sg spot and neither are really lights out from 3.

I wouldn't mind Nazr but he is an expiring so they probably don't want to give him up.

Definitely true. Reportedly though, they are considering almost anyone.

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
I'm not sure Wallace is enough of an upgrade to be worth the cost. I'm afraid he's just a good player on a bad team, and might not help the win collumn more than AK.
Secondly, AK might, might sign here next year for a lot less than GWal will be making.
Third, dollars count for the Jazz. They aren't going to take on a ton of bad contracts at this point.
Lastly, the team seems to be playing pretty well right now. If we can ever that that first team running right we'll be terrific. And I'm not sure that putting a healthy Okur in there won't do the trick. Trades can go either way, each team always thinks they are winning, but, usually that's not the case when it's all said and done. So, it makes sense to be conservative.

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
Too much risk involved here. I like Wallace, but Diaw is all over the place. Wallace is even more injury prone than AK is, as hard as that is to believe.
Its more of a lateral move than anything, and I'll stick with the guy that knows our system and plays well within it: AK.
If the Jazz are going to make the leap from pseudo-contender to legitimate one, at least one of two things is going to have to happen (preferably both):
1) Al Jefferson is going to have to become a star. Right now he has been decent at best. Its inexcusable for a guy like that to be posting a PER of 16-17, when he's capable of being a 23 or 24 kind of guy. His FG% is abysmal from every level EXCEPT long 2s, which would otherwise have made him a very pleasant surprise, and his rebounding has been atrocious. Deron is playing near MVP levels right now, and Paul is playing some amazingly efficient basketball (though his rebounding needs to improve, too). What we need is that go-to big man who controls the boards and is an unstoppable force in the paint. Al is supposed to be that guy, but he's not close. If he can get his shooting numbers up to 52 or 53% in FGs and his rebound rate up to 17 or 18 (which will probably equate to 10.5 per game or so) then our offensive efficiency will sky rocket and we won't be giving up nearly as many second chance opportunities.
2) The other thing is a secondary creator on the perimeter. CJ has shown some serious flashes. When he's got his game going, we are almost unbeatable, and our record in games which has scored 15 or more ppg reflects that. Still, he's not shooting efficiently enough atm, and obviously his consistency isn't there. If we can get a secondary guy to complement Deron, someone who can be a force on the perimeter, that could take us to another level as well. Iguodala would fit the bill perfectly, but his contract is problematic and he may not be available. Eric Gordon would be a great fit, too, assuming he got his 3 point stroke back. Manu, Kevin Martin, Stephen Curry, or maybe even Ben Gordon are all types that would do the trick.
Until one or both of those things happen, the Jazz are just a nice team that is going to get eliminated in the first or second round of the playoffs. Trading AK for Wallace and Diaw wouldn't do much, if anything, to change that. If we're going to make moves, it needs to be for a quality two guard who can stretch the defense and score off the bounce.

TThomas, decent contract for the caliber of player and still has room to improve. Even if the Jazz didn't think that they'd open up minutes for Hayward by trading AK47, I'm sure the Bcats can get more for Thomas and Wallace than what the Jazz would give them.

fes has the right to veto since he's off a RFA year with a one year contract.

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
Unless we got Stephen jackson i say no. Ak and Wallace are different players but into the end i'll take Ak's eyes and the way he was dunkin the ball in the Knicks game any day. When Memo gets rolling our bench is going to be awsome with that mighty mouse line-up. Bell is shooting well and we have hayward if anything happens to Ak or Miles or even bell. I want to see this team get a full season together. I don't know if that trade makes us that much better. The only thing i can think of is the whole thing of D-will wanting to run more, but even with that Ak is a fantastic passer on the break and a great finisher. The wallace and TT trade i would not be mad about though just not sure its nessesary.

Re: AK & Fes for G. Wallace & Diaw
The Jazz are operating on about a $7,000,000 profit per year.....Next year without AK coming off the books we're screwed (ownership won't make money), so I'd say no, unless it is for Jackson and Carrol (which isn't good enough for us, IMO).

Of course the Jazz also did about $2,000,000 in renovations to the Delta center.

Funny that the picture to represent the team is Spenser.

I was about to say that. Maybe they have to pay by the value of the image? Funny they didn't include Ogden or Provo as being part of the metro. People from those places easily can catch a live game any given evening, even after work.
