Sloan is the cook. He sails with the ship and will not abandon ship when it is sinking. There are good and bad qualities that are derived from such a personality. He is loyal, hardworking, tenacious, and driven. But he is also stubborn, unwilling to change or learn, and set in his ways. Also, the last time I checked, cooks dont make great leaders...unless its Casey Ryback in "Under Siege." What a badass that guy was!

High fives to those willing to read that novel. I'm sure it's all been said before.

I'm all for firing Sloan if there is something better out there.
Trouble is, I'm not sure there are any better coaches out there who would come to the Jazz

Theres not a coach out there that can't manage to lead a D-Will led team with decent supporting cast to the first or second round of the playoffs.
Thats all Sloan is gonna do. Again.

Maybe, but I gotta say I'll take Sloan over someone like Bob Weiss (guy used to coach the Sonics, right?)

We'd get just as far with him as we would Sloan. I'm just saying. I can't figure out where the Sloan<*insert name here* debates actually come in to play. All those regular season wins sure do impress people, I guess. Lemmie know when they start handing out rings for being really good in the regualr season.

Like I said, I'm all for firing Sloan if we improve, but if we are going to tread water either way than I am ok keeping him here to maintain stability.

20+ years of stability. We're 3 "7 year itches" into the marraige to Sloan and he still insists on only giving up the missionary position. Aren't we bored with missionary yet? Couldn't we use a good "Glass Bottom Boat" or maybe a "Hot Carl" just to shake it up?

Problem is you've gotta find a different partner to try all the new positions, and that risks a nasty case of general warts or a herpes outbreak that causes you to miss the simple monogamous missionary position.
Which reminds me, tell your mom she should probably get tested....

All of you guys who say there isnt a coach out there that would come here have your heads up your rear ends. A coach that looks at our situation and sees he can make his millions with uber-job security is DROOLING to come here. Hell, at worst he blames his players like Sloan does and doesnt get fired!
