Pipe Dreams.

Here it is. The official pipe dream thread.

Just thought it would be nice to take a break from this nightmare that is the Jazz and fantasize about alternate realities that probably won't happen.

Let's keep this semi-realistic, aka, no "I wish time machines were invented and Stockton/Malone came back to save us " or "I wish Durant suddenly decided he needed to be traded to Utah"

So, looking at today's NBA and the situations surrounding different teams, both fiscal and regarding player drama/potential trades, what crazy **** things can you think of that you'd like to have happen to the Jazz?

I guess I'll start, I can't sleep.

Assuming Deron leaves, I think it would be incredibly ironic and awesome if we signed Chris Paul. I don't know who's better but I disagree when people say He wouldn't be as good in the system. I think for one, his style of play (speed, never picking up his dribble, low turnovers, lots of steals) would really help when the Jazz get stagnant offensively. Deron doesn't really possess the same caliber of ability to keep his dribble alive in traffic until an opportunity is there to dish it off or score.

#2
Jefferson gets his head out of his @$$ and returns to 25-10 form while not killing the offense, and we don't have to pretend anymore like we don't miss some of the things Boozer brought to the table.

The guy has a lot of talent, we all know that. He just really slows down the offense when he touches the ball, and doesn't seem relaxed as he forces up weird effing shots. If he came into his own and became as efficient as he should be then Millsap could return to the bench where he belongs, conserving his energy and using it in appropriate spurts as our official 6th man.

that's all I got.

Start Jeremy Evans.

All problems are solved.

Trade Bell and Miles, let AK expire and only resign him for a deal that is less than the MLE, otherwise let him walk and use the MLE on someone like Jamario Moon who does the same thing at this point. See about trading Okur for Rip Hamilton or Ben Gordon so we have some scoring in the back court, and try to get some more picks in the draft to help revitalize the team. ex. Okur/Bell for Gordon/DET 2nd.

That Bell gets some kind of injury that doesn't allow him to play so that Hayward can start at the 2 guard, or better yet, just that Bell doesn't play anymore.

Kevin O'conner realizes after Deron leaves that you have to spend money in retaining promising young players to improve and recognizes the importance of athleticism and physical tools in constructing a team.

Greg Miller realizes a Jazz championship is more important than retiring 80 mil richer. That, or the Jazz are bought by a billionaire.

They better realize that "the system" works with plodders but doesn't win in the playoffs without the stars.

Greg Miller is a business man not a basketball man. He is making $7M per year doing what he is doing. There really is no need for him to change anything since Utah fans will continue to shell out their money to his pockets no matter what product he puts on the floor as long as he gives the promise of a better tomorrow-when we are all healthy, after he has developed, when we learn to play together, etc.

It's not just Greg. I think the whole front office just kinda mails it in. We have no interest in making a championship team, just a 40-50 win team, with hopes that some how that can be enough. If this team loses Deron, we should just tank for awhile (2-3 years) collecting top 5 picks, since that is the only damn way a star (and more importantly, the 2-3 stars a championship team needs) will come to Utah.

What's more likely is we draft some chump, sign some mediocre free agents who don't play defense, and pick in the mid-teens en route to early playoff exits. Snag a couple of 2nd round gems, and repeat cycle.

The only way this team is winning a championship is when one of us becomes a billionare and buys the damn team. Or if you know some billionaire friends, holla at em.

Pipe Dream, eh? Well...here goes. I start my hedge fund (this will happen) and it becomes one of the most successful of all-time and I make billions and buy the Jazz and go over the cap by however much it takes to bring the title to Salt Lake City (not likely to happen).

pipe dream: the nba changes so teams don't have to purchase their championships. they can win it simply by practicing hard and beating the other teams. assembling teams and "buying/renting" players becomes obsolete. the work on the court is more important than the work done off the court. coaching and playing becomes more important than gm-ing.

I happen to know a billionaire and season ticket holder. I'll see what I can do.

*edit*
He had an estimated 840 million at his peak. Never mind, we need a billionaire.
