Is it time to blow this thing up? or is there a chance that this heartless, soulless collection of rich do nothings can come together??? Is jerry the man who can pull this train wreck back together? or will the Jazz kingdom demand for Jerry's removal as the Egyptians are demanding the Mubarick step down. Just wonderin??

i've desperately been looking for some silver lining, but the truth is, this is a stretch that we should have gone 8-2 or 7-3 on, instead we went 3-7, with 4 of those losses to sub .500 teams and a grind-it-out win to one of the worst teams in the league AT HOME....
i dunno, this is one of the lowest times i can remember as a jazz fan, nobody in the organization is used to a utah jazz team playing this gutlessly.

Sorry to bring you down, but get ready for some pretty sad days as a Jazzfan. Sloan's best days are behind him. I dont think at age 70+ he will interested in rebuilding. Deron will leave. We wont be able to buy a "superfriends" team. We will have trouble signing quality free agents. We're in for a tough time!

the 2004 Jazz had no talent and played better then this bunch! This is the worst Jazz team i have ever watched. If they were playing hard and lossing i would not be this mad. They are jsut getting beat down night after night.

From complacency in ownership and management, to stubborn rigidity and the inability to adapt in coaching, right on down to a team with no hope of ever creating any chemistry on the court, we are basically screwed for a while.

yep, this looks REALLY bad. I think we are about a week away from the Millers deciding this year's team is finished and selling off pieces to save money. The sad thing is, given what I've seen of this team, I can't really say they would be wrong to do it, either. We are precariously close to "oh well, we might as let the rookies play, cause the vets can't be any worse."
Seriously, is there ANY player on the team that is untouchable right now? I say no. I would call the Clippers right now and see if we could pry Blake Griffin away for Deron Williams by taking on Baron's contract as incentive. Sad thing is, the Clippers would probably say no. Anyone who thinks D-Will is sticking around after next year is fooling themselves.

With no draft choices, barring a trade, we are left with next year with the same team minus AK and four mast cast offs at minimum salary. The future is exciting.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we do end up with a first round pick this year. Our record may end up being bad enough that the protection on that pick could kick in.

Of course the Clippers would say no to that. You can build a team around a projected perennial All-Star big man. It's much harder to build around a PG.
The Jazz are in a tough spot because they HAVE to make some moves to try to keep Deron around. They can't afford to blow things up completely just yet; but they also have very few assets with which to make moves. One of the most trade-able pieces they have is Millsap, yet it's hard to know how Mr. Grumpyshorts would respond if the Jazz dealt him to improve the team.

I would not mind missing the playoffs one bit. Get us a nice lottery pick, let AK and Elson or Fes go and sign some role players that can shoot and defend.

Given that we'll only have the MLE to work with, that's not going to be any easy task.

It should be said once again that we don't know what Exceptions will exist in the new CBA. I've heard some people say they think the MLE will go away.

The draft choice is top 16 protected, I believe. Which means record wise we would need to be passed by three teams. Currently, New York, Memphis, and Portland.
The MLE may or maynot be there to use in the next CBA. The exceptions is one of the things the owners have targeted, but who knows what will happen.

Why is everyone saying we are dead in the water for years?! Given this team is flawed, because no one can shoot, and no one is willing to defend. Look at San Antonio. They made moves last year that made them worse... but it is paying off this year. Now if we are playing like this NEXT year... then yes we are screwed.

Most teams in a tailspin like the jazz's would have fired the coach and/or traded old innefficient and rusty players for fresh and physical talent!
IE!
Let Sloan, Bell, Haywood, Miles, Fesenko, Price, Okur go! NOW! Even trade Milsap to sweeten the Pie. Make CHANGE JAZZ!!!!!!!

YUP! I was thinking about that 2004 team of nobodies who played their asses off, they would kick the crap out of this years team.

I like your optimism, but I think part of San Antonio's problem last year was that Ginobili wasn't 100%. He's the key to that team's success.
At some point I really think the Jazz need to start Hayward at the two and let him get experience and confidence; or start CJ at the two and give his backup SF minutes to Hayward.
For the Jazz to go anywhere next year it's pretty clear to me that Hayward will have to be significant contributor and I think getting him more minutes this year is key to achieving that.

+1
Without significant development from Hayward we are going to be in some major trouble next season.
I can't see us landing anyone who is going to make a big impact on the team through FA or trade so internal development/improvement is what we're going to have to bank on (again......

)

Hopefully the CBA makes some existing contracts bad enough that the Jazz might be able to pry some 2nd perimeter option to pair with dwill.
It will also be infuriating if / when the Bulls trade their **** assets for a SG with range, given our exact same need.
I am also for not making the playoffs, 12-15 could have some good picks. Although it will infuriate dwill. I also think the earlier we make a change, the better so there is more time before dwills option comes up to gel and develop some sort of chemistry. No one wants a panic trade at the deadline that ties up all our cap room right before dwill (potentially) leaves anyways if we don't get out of the first round.
