Are you still watching this crap? And why?

My family was probably one of the first 10 customers of DirectTV back in the middle 90's. Since then I can probably count on my hands and toes the number of Jazz games I have actually not seen, or at least partly seen. I was even there for the debacle of a season that was 2005, before we drafted Deron. At least then I knew we had no talent and no shot...

But this season the Jazz had ample time to prepare for. We knew Boozer was leaving. We knew AK was expiring. We know Deron will want a competitive team if he is to stay put. We know we had a keeper in Matthews. We knew alot coming into this season.

But somehow Jazz management and Jerry Sloan turned a pivotal, franchise-defining season into a debacle. Dont point to our winning record because I will just laugh and say "wait." This Jazz team is not exciting, does not bring energy, does not play smart, and is flat out boring and frustrating to watch.

I was at the Wizards game to watch the Jazz lose to my hometown team, who is one of the worst in the league. I haven't watched a game since....and it looks like my time has been better spent seeing how I've missed the fabulous performance of a 1-7 team in that stretch.

My question is, is anybody still watching this bullcrap? And why? I am not a fairweather fan....never have been. But I also wont waste time or money on bad products. The Utah Jazz is a bad product.

I will always watch and love. Being a fan is not about the good times exclusively. Being a fan is being devoted no matter what. That doesn't mean I like everything obviously, or that I'm happy with the coaching, playing and front office right now, but I'm about the Utah Jazz. Not necessarily the players wearing the uniforms.

I've never stepped foot in Utah, and became a fan because of Stockton. I stuck with them when he left because I loved Sloan and felt the team still played the game "the right way."

There hasn't been much of that lately. Oddly enough, though, the game last night gave me a lot of hope. Our guys competed in a way we've not seen in a while. I'm hoping it starts a trend.

I'm an actual loyal/non-band wagon fan who watches regardless of if they are playing well or not.

The only time I can ever see my fanship becoming up for grabs to another team is if the Jazz leave Utah. and even then, I'm not sure I wouldn't still count them as my team.

Im a Utah Jazz fan since they came to Utah and go back to the time I use to just hear them on radio on KSL with Hot Rod. So Im a Jazz fan forever and of all the sports, it is the team I follow the most by far, BUT it is getting a little old watching the Jazz (with old man Sloan) and the same conservative cheap ownership trying to make believe to the fans that the Jazz (1) do it the right way, and (2) are trying to win a championsip.

They are clearly lieing to the fans in an attempt to keep the seats filled as much as possible. I see the ownership as tired of over-paying for guys like AK-47 and now Jefferson and I see a cleaning of the house coming with alot of losing and empty seats in the next 5 years. In the next 4-5 years, there will be talk about the Jazz relocating or simply folding as a franchise. Lets enjoy the Jazz this season as much as possible because the future will likely be much worse. This years team might be the best record and team we will see for the next 5 years, as such I vote rent Melo so we have at least one chance to make a run at it all.

It is just stupid to claim that the Jazz brass aren't trying to make this team better. Remember when they worked the TPE from Booz for Big Al? The Jazz could've easily let the TPE expire like joke franchise like 'Sota do. They gambled on Big Al, and it is still early. I will continue to watch because guys like Millsap deserve it. Some players may have quite already, but not everyone. And those players who are still giving it their all deserve our attention as fans. Now if this team turns into 12 CJ's... then yes, I will stop watching.

They are trying to make the team better, but from inside a concrete box that they constantly refuse to peak out of and have a thought not contained by said concrete box.

Been a fan for life, except for a few years when I was more into college sports because I was going to college, but after that period, I picked the Jazz right back up where I left them. I expect a lot, as I watched Stockton to Malone growing up, which created unfair expectations, but I love watching the Jazz no matter what. No Jazz in Utah means only college sports, which isn't bad, but has plenty of down moments without the Jazz, since I don't watch soccer outside of every 4 years. If it came down to choosing having an NBA team in Utah that is a 1st or 2nd round playoff exit every year but gets to stay here, opposed to a 1 time championship team that gets shipped out 4 or 5 years later, it would be a really hard choice.

Outside of the Jazz and watching Blake Griffin dunk, I'm not that big of a fan of the NBA. It's an extremely flawed league that relies far too heavily on ticky tack foul calls and superstar treatment, thanks to MJ. I would love to see it tilt more to a bit more defensive oriented league. The NFL has things right, in terms of parity and sharing the talent.

+1 (amen) 8-) 8-)

It's tough watching this team..I'm trying to hang in there. I had high hopes that Jefferson would figure things out..heck if Boozer can he should but with no shooting guard on this team/no dominant power forward player the chemistry/system is lost

I agree. The NBA is one of the worst products in all of sports. Its as close to Pro Wrestling as any "competitive" professional sport can be.

David Stern can be credited for saving the league from its debt-laden 70's and early 80's, and turning it into a cash-cow....but he did it at the expense of the integrity of the game.

I would love to see the NBA adopt more of an NFL type system. I agree the NBA is incredibly flawed, but I don't think it is MJ's fault, as much as I hate the guy. I think it all boils down to David Stern. Dude has been destroying the league ever since he took office. Look at every decree he implements. The guy is building a dictatorship. The fact that refs can dominate and control a game, but the players can't say anything about them is fishy enough. Now, they can't show emotion either. Couple that with the NBA now owning franchises... doesn't sound like a legitimate situation to me. Few things would make me happier than American troops storming the NBA offices and finding David Stern hiding in a spider hole.

Its not about acceptance here, its about us wondering what the mental state of someone who says exactly what you just said, yet finds time to post on a message board about a subject he has apparently lost interest in is.

I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.

I'm still a fan. And the markets are flat today...so I've got more down time at work. Its either this, or reading about how the US Treasury's inevitable default will cripple us for a decade. This was the less depressing of the two :)

Yep. The US is the Jazz and China is the Lakers. Game over.

I can't tell you how many years I've heard the old chicken little "the Jazz will be moving in the next 5 years" complaints. Funny how it doesn't ever happen.
Watching the Jazz right now is not fun. With D-Will, AK, Memo all nursing injuries and bench guys now having to take starter roles it is frustrating to see players pressing to step into roles they haven't shown an ability to do. Fans are frustrated, players are frustrated, and apparently from O'Connor's latest round of interviews with Locke the front office is also frustrated.
I don't get to sit down and spend hours watching every game--in fact things are busy enough that I tend to have to catch up with news/highlights. But that isn't due to the recent struggles. Not pleased with where the team is but I'm confident they are working to pull out of it. I'm sure this is not the season anyone involved envisioned.

I watch because I have time to do it (in college there was no way) and though it's not as fun as watching a top team, it's my recreation and I still enjoy watching for a rookie to get time or for an indication that we have brighter days ahead--which I still believe we do with the current roster.
