Deron
for
Derick Favors
Devin Harris
4 Picks (2-NJ unprotected, LAL pick, and GSW pick)
If we trade Deron, we should get something like this. 4 picks sets us up big time, and Devin Harris can be flipped for something more after the season if necessary. Derrick Favors has the potential to be anywhere from the next Antonio McDyess/Kenyon Martin to Dwight Howard. We may need to give up a CJ or something to them too, but I wouldn't mind this if the Jazz Managment feel they have a diminishing asset in Deron because they fear he will walk.
We also avoid the tax.

Just as a gauge of perspective. Boston only gave up 2 picks and a promising player for Kevin Garnett. 4 picks is incredibly unlikely. Besides that, if Deron is ever traded, it won't be until a year from next week.

Oh my god, can you idiots stop with the Deron Williams trades already?
The Jazz have the leagues premier PG, he is not going to be traded, ever. If he won't resign, the Jazz will let him walk like they did Boozer, simple as that. The End.
Now go away and be mad that our coach who had lost touch with the NBA is gone.

Kevin Garnett when traded was on the downhill side of his career and they still go 2 picks, and Big AL. There is no guarantee that Favors would turn into a 21/10 player like Al did for Minny. I think it is plausible if we threw in CJ. But I would be fine letting them keep the LAL pick.
Deron is the best pg in the game.

Re: NJ/UT
Probably the least worst D-Will trade I've seen, but maybe I'm biased because the same scenario has crossed my mind. Obtaining Favors from Jersey is one of the only possibilities of getting eventual equal return on Williams, and Harris would thrive in what will likely be a Sloan-lite offensive system. And really, if NJ will give up a similar package for an expiring Melo, then they should jump at this, minus perhaps a pick or two.
I would love to keep D-Will, but ownership has decimated this roster and player assets to the point that they will now have to do something very bold in order for the Jazz to return to relevance.
Williams + random stiffs and castoffs = long term mediocrity.

Just want to point out again I called this for even longer. (Note this one was started on 2/15, the other one was 2/21) I still think we should have got at least one more pick, but we got the ones that mattered. I seriously, should be upgraded on this board.

I am a jazz fan from KC. I love this move. It was the only move to make, and it was forward thinking.
I think Favors will turn into some sort of Dwight Howard level player. It will take him longer, but bring in Malone to work on his game, and his body and he will get there.

That was very very well played. It would be even more impressive had that not been the rumored deal for Carmelo. It was widespread knowledge that New Jersey was willing to give up all those pieces for a superstar player. None of us however could even fathom that Deron would be the one in that deal. Well played though. Huge props.

Not that I could prove it through a thread that I can remember, but ever since Carmelo was floated at the beginning of the season with AK, I had thought of this deal as the only one I would do if we ever had to trade our superstar.
I still hate to see Deron go, but this is a great deal.
If Derrick becomes anything close to Howard or Horford, this will become a steal....and the draft picks could turn into stars or pieces to get other players.
