Deron to Knicks?

Kevin Berger is reporing that Deron told "associates" he's planning on knicks in 2012. Also says more info is coming from CBSsports.com.
http://www.twitter.com/CBSSportsNBA/status/39178261963603968http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/14712636/nets-reportedly-back-in-on-melo-after-dolan-jumps-inWalsh's patient strategy applied not only to keeping and adding necessary role players to complement the two superstars, but also to adding a third star who could push the Knicks into the Eastern Conference elite with an aging Boston team, Miami, and Chicago. A person with knowledge of the conversations told CBSSports.com on Saturday that Jazz point guard Deron Williams began informing close associates after last season that if Stoudemire wound up in New York, Williams would follow him there as a free agent in 2012. If the Knicks got Anthony with the three-year extension under current rules, it is not clear whether they'd have enough cap space to add a player such as Williams, Chris Paul or Dwight Howard when the trio become unrestricted free agents after next season.

Really doesn't make any sense. Deron just moved his family to the West Coast. He and Amare never seemed particularly close. Can't remember seeing them even talk, Amare didnt play Team USA or anything like that with Deron. Knicks front office is a mess right now. Apparently Dolan is listening to Isiah Thomas and freezing out Donnie Walsh. I can't see Deron saying that at all.
The Lakers ... thats a different story.

This is what's going to happen:
- Deron will deny everything and rip on the media, and act like it's all a huge burden to him.
- Media will blow it up for the next year
- Deron will leave in 2012, whether to New York or somewhere else. Despite knowing this the whole time, Jazz management will just let him walk for nothing. Jazz will suck for years and years.
Sucks being a Jazz fan.

Problem with the report is that they're attributing it to Kevin Berger, who never reported it. It's on CBSsports.com now in a little paragraph in an article about C. Anthony. They're now saying that someone "close to the conversation" says that Deron's "close associates said" that "Deron said" over a YEAR ago that he would follow Amare if Amare went to New York. But then it's also being made to look like Deron said all that tonight at the all star game.
Media irresponsibility should be punished with jail time. Now we as fans are left on pins and needles for the next year not knowing what or who to believe. We're just left to speculate, while trying to support a team without putting too much hope into it, wondering if they'll even exist in a year.

If he goes anywhere, it'll be to Dallas. Everyone knows that. He'll be in Utah or Dallas. There really is no reason to believe anything else, because my friend told me that he over heard his girlfriend talking to her hairdresser about how the hairdressers old roommate from college called her up and said that she heard from "an undisclosed source" that "a friend of Deron's" once asked him what his favorite tv show was, and he said Texas Walker Ranger, which takes place in Texas... Just like the Dallas Mavericks.

didnt believe this the moment i read it. Deron is a smart dude, if he is interested in the Knicks, he'll know when to say it out loud.
Seems like a perfect time for an unknown source to come out with this bull.

So Chris Paul, Melo, Dwight, AND Deron are all going to the Knicks in the next year. This is a joke.

There's almost always some truth in what gets reported--stories aren't generally 100% correct, but they're at least partially right. I'm not sure why there are so many people who continue to believe Deron is going to resign with the Jazz.
His comments indirectly tell you he is not coming back. The most telling for me was when he said he couldn't get other free agents to come to Utah. No news there. That's been a big problem for the Jazz for many years. I guess Deron is finally believing it. He said the only way Utah could build a team was through the draft. That means high draft picks which means a few losing seasons in a row and the lottery. Deron isn't going to go through that so he knows staying in Utah means playing with average teams.
There is no parity in the NBA now and Deron knows that, so he would rather be with one of the teams with a disproportionate amount of talent on it. It doesn't mean winning a championship, but it means less frustration than staying in Utah.
My opinion--same as before. Utah will be a solid team but won't win a championship any time in the next decade or more. It's not the FO's fault, it's not the LHM's problems, the team is just in Utah. Do you want to move them! All the big media markets already have a team. Is having an average to above average team that's HERE, better than having no team at all?
Miller should trade Deron and AK now while they still has value. AK now and Deron at the end of the season--unless they both commit to extensions now. Of course their agents won't let them do that!

If Jazz ever seriously consider moving Deron it'll be this time NEXT year.

If he wants to go anywhere, it should be to Orlando to play with Dwight. Or the two of them both Bosh-LeBron their teams and go play in some small market city (oh wait, they already are) so lets say they go revive the Sonics in Seattle or the Grizz in Vancouver. Now that would be sweet. (to me). Come on Nuba, grant a franchise to one of these cities in 2012! No legacy contracts, all capspace, and Deron and Dwight. What a perfect way to start a franchise.
Sorry Utah fans, you know he is going. And you are better off long term if he does go.
