Deron Williams Trade

I believe that NJ would break the bank to get the best PG in basketball. They don't value Devon Harris at all apparently, and I think Derrick Favors will become an athletic stud.

NJ
Deron, Memo

Jazz
Harris, Favors, Murphy 4 1st Round Picks, and some 2nds as well.

We could hold onto the picks and build for the future, or we can double down and use the picks to do the following:

The Jazz then send Millsap/CJ to Indiana and 2 firsts for Granger, or AK/CJ and 1 first to Philly for Iggy/Kapono. Or we do both deals. The philly deal would need to change slightly of course, maybe add a second pic etc.

Harris
Iggy
Granger
Favors
Jefferson

Thoughts?
Or we just k

1st Deron isn't the best PG in the game that's Rose!

2nd both Indy and Philly have backed off on trading those guys and there's no way they waould except your low ball offers for to great players.

I thought the Jazz were getting Carmelo Anthony!

How does that fit in with the rest of these guys?

Deron is staying in Utah and the next 4 game winning streak we will all forget these threads ever happened.

This team is screwed. You guys lose Boozer and now Williams. Plus you lost one of the best coaches in the history of the NBA. No big stars will come and play in Utah.

Similar things were said when Malone and Stockton retired. Somehow we managed.

Except we didn't get 4 first rounders.

KSL is reporting the deal is this (per Yahoo Sports):
New Jersey gets: Deron Williams
Golden State gets: Troy Murphy
Utah gets: Dan Gadzuric (from GS), Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first-round draft picks from the Nets

The Utah Jazz have agreed to deal All-Star point guard Deron Williams(notes) to the New Jersey Nets in a trade that will send Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and two first-round draft picks to Utah, sources tell Y! Sports.

As reported Tuesday, the Nets are also close to receiving forward Brandan Wright and center Dan Gadzuric(notes) from the Golden State Warriors in a separate trade that sends the Warriors forward Troy Murphy(notes). New Jersey will also send $3 million to the Jazz.

The two picks the Jazz receive are the Nets’ 2011 first-round selection and a 2012 first-rounder the Nets had acquired from the Warriors, which is protected through the first seven picks.

--- The NJN pick will be 7th unless they win the lottery -- too talented to drop below those below them but 4 wins beneath the Clippers, Detroit and Milwaukee with the latter two still in the hunt for the Eastern Conference el cheapo playoff spots

This is a good trade for the Nets. First Harris is a good PG. Second, the key to the trade is going to be Favors and the two 1st round picks. IMO, Favors has a good chance to be a 20/10 guy in about 2 years.

Also if the Jazz can get Jimmer Fredette with the 1st round pick, you will have an improved team. The Jazz can then move Harris to SG. Jimmer Fredette is like Mark Price, but Jimmer can drive to the basket better.

Possible lineup for next season.

PG: Fredette
SG: Harris/Hayward
C: Jefferson/Okur
PF: Favors/Milsap
SF: Miles/AK

A lot of people think this is a good trade for the Nets, I feel this is going to better trade for Utah in a few years.

Point Guards like Williams don't come by very often. PG's run the league now, not big men. This is a bad trade for Utah and a great trade for the Nets if they resign Williams. I believe Williams is the 2nd or 3rd best point guard in the NBA. Not easy to replace.

Still wish we would have got a 3rd pick, or flipped CJ for Marrow, but I can't believe I called this so closely. We essentially got exactly what I proposed minus a couple picks. The most important picks came with this deal.

Which they won't, and which we wouldn't have either. Sooo, your points are all moot.
