I'm a Jazz fan.

I've been thinking long and hard about that statement today, and this is probably kinda reduntant and maybe lockable, but I'm calling in the good will my other 8000 posts or so have created me and posting it anyways.

I'm not going to get into a long statistical spiel about the trade, or cry about the front office, or the fact that my second all time favorite basketball player just left.

All I'm gonna say is that I'm a Jazz fan. I always will be. The front of the jersey is still more important than the back, and Deron is now the enemy.

Go Jazz.

Out.

Best Statement I've heard today:

benbags Ben Bagley
Coach Gordon Chiesa with a good point, the Utah Jazz are now Ty Corbin's team, not Deron Williams.

More like cookie big man. Still, it's true.

BTW rick333, that is such a great siggy, I love that scene, and one of the top 5 movies all time for sure. At this point today, I'm feeling somewhat dude like. In other terms, I'm abiding... 8-)

You talking about Ben Bagley? I think that guy's an idiot. I was talking about Gordon Chiesa, the original source.

Ditto that on the sig. One of my favorite memories of watching that movie for the first time was seeing Turturro's character's name on his jumpsuit and knowing that it was going to be pronounced "jee-zuss" and not "hay-soos"

Same here. I'm a jazz fan too.
I'm from europe, from Spain. I have not any relationship with Utah, SLC and I've never been near (I've been in NY, Boston, NJ, Philly, Washington, Miami, Orlando and a few Florida cities more) but I fell in love with this team a lot of years ago and I'm not going to left them.

As a business man, I don't blame Williams for wanting something more and if it was the Knicks where he wanted to go, then it' makes sense... #1 market plus the additions of Amare and Melo this season. I think there are too many things that have been going on between Willams, his coach, and his teammates to really have a clear picture of which initiated each decision. Williams got screwed by getting traded to the Nets instead, but that's because the Jazz were smart enough to get something in return for him. I think the futures of Sloan, Williams and the team where discussed at some point in time, where Williams probably layed a threat on he table that he was not content with the state of the team, and maybe i hinted to Sloan that the team was going to enter a rebuilding/retooling mode, and all this going on Williams probably couldn't get his mind on basketball lately, therefore, his struggles.

Lets take a look at the value of our team in 2 years, and see good we look.

Jefferson/Fesenko
Millsap/Favors/Okur
Kirilenko/Miles
Hayward/Bell
Harris/Watson/Price

UNPROTECTED 2011 NJ Nets pick
2012 NJ Nets pick (via GS) - Nets receive the Warriors' 2011 first-round pick (lottery protected in 2011, top 11 protected in 2012, top 10 protected in 2013, if not conveyed by 2013, Nets will instead receive the Warriors' 2013 and 2015 second-round picks) (Marcus Williams trade 07-22-08)

Don't the Jazz have three first round picks in 2011? Potentially 3 lottery picks! Nets, Memphis, and their own! Favors alone could make the trade worthwhile, now these two extra picks honestly make the future look brighter than ever. Think about this.. we could probably get a true center and/or star PG in the next two summers with all the picks we have. Slowly we fill all the holes, and work on adding size to our current frontcourt. To me today is both shocking, but exciting.

I think the Jazz sent the Memphis pick to Minny for Al.

My sentiments exactly, KE. While I hate to see Deron go--and really, I felt an ownership of him like I have never felt for another sports star in my life, having watched him come in, take his lumps and climb the ladder to superstardom--it was the best move for this team in the long run.

My love for Derrick Favors is well documented, and seeing him come here is the most positive Jazz-related development in a long time, imo. He has legit Big Man star potential, which we have never had in these parts. Throw in a high lotto pick this year and another one next season, and I like how we've stocked the cupboard. We have AK coming off the books this year and Memo coming off next. Paul locked in cheaply for two more seasons, and a couple nice young players still developing. If we can find a way to off-load Al for a decent piece, we'll have tons of flexibility cap wise and a satchel full of good picks to spur the rebuild.

I'll take that over another year of mediocre-to-good play and constant rumors about Deron leaving in FA anyday.

I, too, am Jazz fan. Good bye, Deron.

OK so this Golden state pick does it stay a 1st rounder and has a chance to add a 2nd rounder in 2015 or does it turn into two 2nd rounders (2013 and 2015) ? if so that doesnt sound to good to me I would rather have the two first picks? But then again with the Hayward pick who knows how KOC will screw it up.

I, too, am a Jazz fan through and through. I never thought I would like a player as much as I liked John Stockton and the Mailman, but I got that way with Deron Williams. The man truly has a competitive drive that matched theirs, and the talent to boot. Unfortunately, it didnt work out for him to be a Jazzman for life, and that saddens me.

I will root for this team, and only this team, as I only have. That being said, I wish Deron the best just like I wished Malone the best when he went to LA. I want to see Deron Williams finish his career as a top 5 PG all-time. I dont agree with the people on this board that blame him for all of the recent woes. It takes two to tango....and while Deron may shoulder alot of the fault....to pin it on him alone is ludicrous.

Peace out.

It does feel like the specialness is a bit different now. We are a team that could trade a superstar or fire a coach. We are more like the Nuggets and Kings and Pacers and Bucks or any other team that lacks a solid identity. It's ok though, things will settle down and the team will continue building. There will be no competing for a championship until someone becomes a super star. Hopefully Favors will grow into the KG/Dwight role.
