What if....

Many probably won't like this, but its something I've discussed with friends and wanted to know your guys input.
So we trade Dwill because he "might" not want to re-sign with the Jazz next year, we preempt Dwill and rather than try to convince him to stay, we got what we can now. Its an interesting tactic to take, its is different than carmelo for one reason: Carmelo wanted to leave denver. Even our CEO admitted that he traded Dwill on a "gut" feeling and had no idea if Dwill wanted to stay or go (to those who are positive that Dwill was gone next year, if greg miller had no idea, YOU have no idea). Why not try and convince Dwill to stay and if he doesn't then go to plan B. The Melodrama was bad, but in the end, Denver did get what they want. Their FO tried up to that point to convince him to stay and when he wouldn't relent they traded him. I can live with that at least they tried, the jazz threw in the towel before the fight.
Seems everyone here is pretty happy with what we got in return. Favors does have a lot of upside and having two lotto picks are always nice. Many have commented that Favors might turn into the new Howard....etc. Well lets pretend he does. He becomes one of the top players at his position and its the last year of his contract. We are in same boat as with DWill, will Favors sign with the Jazz?
The jazz gave up on Dwill before even trying and their reward is another promising young talent who they can mold into a great player and then watch as he leaves when his rookie contract is up. It is really hard to convince guys in their prime to stay in a small market and in Utah. So for the Jazz to trade Dwill before even knowing if he wanted to stay or go, is crazy. Everyone's been talking about when Dwill left the jazz next year....., but few people have discussed, what if Dwill wanted to finish his career here in Utah. What if he was the rare superstar who wanted to be here in Utah and we traded him away?
