Grade the Jazz moves.

Post#1 » by QuantumMacgyver » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:00 pm

I give the Jazz a B. I like what we got for D-Will. I like the timing. But I am sorely disappointed that we didn't move CJ. Would've given them an A if we could've gotten rid of CJ, and/or landed a decent scoring wing.

B.

We lost our best player, and the face of our franchise, that sucks.

But, we got a great package. A potential superstar, an all-star PG to replace the player we lost, and two lottery picks. We also skipped the long awful rebuilding process of waiting 3 seasons to get these draft picks, plus we got a player with good trade potential if he doesn't work out in Harris.

too soon....
If when we were 27-14 you tell we were going to trade Deron I would kill you.
Know I think maybe it's the best. I hope Favors became a true superstar, better than Deron is already.

For now, a C. I don't see why you take Harris when you can flip him to another team for picks/prospects.

Its too soon. I want to say a C though. From the looks of the draft class there isn't much on the table for us to improve. The Jazz, I believe, are going to be a .500 team now that Jerry is gone. I'm just hoping Favors pans out.

A+

And here is why.

This trade was smart. It was forward thinking. It was proactive. It was risky. It was bold. It was like nothing we've ever, ever seen from the Jazz.

I don't know if Harris, Favors, and the two other guys we got for Deron will take us to a championship or not, but, it was pretty obvious that the team we had assembled this year was going nowhere fast. Now, now we have a chance to build something great instead of pulling a Cleveland and catering to the whims of our superstar until he leaves with us holding nothing more than a bag of Isiah Thomas style detritus.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

A-

I really like this trade for the Jazz

Harris is a former allstar

Favors is a young defensive prospect

and the picks are nice assets

So you move forward with just Watson and Price as your PGs if you flip Harris? :x

I'll go B+

Dont get me wrong I think we hit the jackpot with the trade and got a ton of great young assets moving forward (favors, and NJ pick and GS pick) also managed to get a respectable point guard.

Would have loved to see Cj moved, one of my friend who happens to be close with Randy Rigby told me that while they were in Hawaii (I dont know why they were in Hawaii, some loyalty fan thing?) they had a seperate deal in the works if the deron and melo trade fell through, all he mentioned was AK would be in NY and I dont know what we would have recieved. He is a trustworthy guy but I cant believe he would relinquish that type of info to fans.

The only reason this isnt an A is because we lost our chances and still getting a good playoff seed, while the playoffs arent out of reach, it will be very hard and if we dont make the playoffs we get an extra lott pick. But hope that at least Ty will give our young guys a fair amount of Minutes.

+1

If Williams had a good attitude this year, I wouldn't want to lose him, though this trade potentially could revamp our roster in many positions. Favors could be a franchise player in a few years if he lives up to potential and the Nets pick could be anywhere in the 1-8 range depending if Williams makes them an overnight success, and if they can win one of the top 3 spots in the lottery, in that range they could get another All-Star, potentially it's 1 All-Star for 2 or 3. Then lets not forget the GS pick which will probably be in 7-12 range.

B+ on the Deron move.

D- on the rest. They needed to move CJ and Fes for something, but got nothing done. That's weak. It's not the rebuild I was hoping for.

A- Because it took alot of guts to make this deal at this time, and it was a smart move at the right time. I only wish that we acquired a shooter at the 3 or 4 because we are seriously the worst outside shooting team in the NBA right now since we got rid of our best shooter. Doubt he would come to Utah, but signing someone like Kopono after he is bought out would help this team.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

HammerDunk I don't understand your hate for CJ. He is a 3Mil a yr bench player. He plays like one and you act like he is a 12 Mil a yr starter. I guess its just your constant nagging about him that gets me. I don't love him by any means but he is a good back up. Not may guys making 3 mil are much better.

Not many guys making 3 mil a year jack up 19 harder-than-Kobe shots a game.

He's 3.7 mil, so closer to 4.

Because we have nothing good at the 2, and we need something good. Don't get me wrong, he is fine for what he is paid, but hanging onto him when we desperately need a good 2 is just stupid. Plus, all I've heard since we drafted him is that he has so much potential and to give him time. He has had a ton of time, and is still what he is, and he still doesn't understand his role on this team. Sorry, he is not the answer. I've watched him shoot us out of too many games.

solid flapping A, like honestly, what were the odds of them winning the title this year or next year? and also what were the odds of Dwill resigning? Better to get things done early rather than late.

For this season.

Portland was offering Miller. He is an expiring. Should have tried to get Rudy and a pick or something too.

Dallas was wanting him as well.

I can't fault the Jazz for not trading CJ. It takes two to tango. CJ is expiring with a team option. I doubt the Jazz could've gotten anything too worth while for him.
