Would you take Jimmer?

Just curious.
Earl and Price have expiring contracts at the end of the season. Fredette has an NBA-ready body suited for the Jazz system and his marksmanship fills a need. And, he's a BYU product-- good for the fans.
nbadraft.net places him as a lottery pick, ranked 10th in their mock. With the Nets sitting currently at sixth from the bottom of the standings, chances are Fredette will be available when the Jazz picks (NJ's 2011 pick which they got from the D-Will trade).
So would you?

No. He's not going to be an NBA starter. He's not JJ Reddick. He is Travis Diener. He would make a good Ronnie Price role type player (better than Price) but that high would be a huge disappointment.

If the pick is 8 or lower how could you not take him? The fan-base would go into a frenzy and to be honest with you...he is what we need (shooter). I think he is a better NBA prospect than people give him credit for. The guy is crafty as ****.
Like an NBA scout said earlier this season about him..."You can teach a guy to play defense a lot easier than you can teach a guy to come down the court and pop a 35 footer right in the defenders face".

I would take him no higher than 10. I love watching him play and would die if the Jazz took him, but any higher than that would be a huge risk. Their pick will be top 5, they won't even think about it.
I also wonder why everyone writes him off as not being a worthy NBA player. It's a possibility, but no more a possibility than him being good.

Yes. I hate YBU like every Utah fan should but I think if he is available with our Nets pick we should take him, although depending with the lottery picking. But if around 5-8 picks then yes. I kinda hope he is available. He defense does scare me and his my shot first attitude doesn't help. I would like jimmer play PG/SG with the Jazz.
Jazz will take the best player available but we need a PG SG maybe a C by position of needs.

I think we should go for another PF. We could do a lineup featuring 1 PG and 4 PF's with how many we are collecting.
Jimmer is a shooter but reminds me of Iverson with black hole itis.

With our late lottery pick I would love to have him, with the New Jersey pick I would like a Harrison Barnes type player.

No.
I hope we get Barnes or Hamilton, both SG/SF wing guys.

I don't see us taking him before 12. And I sure hope we don't.

Lets draft him, and then package him for Bogut after the BYU fans go to bed for the night.

lol nice..
Yeah my feelings too. I hope we do NOT draft him unless he's the best player available when we get there (doubt it)

8 out of the last 10 collegiate leading scorers never even played in the NBA. He would be at a disadvantage quickness-wise on the defensive end every night. I wouldn't draft him just because he plays at a local school.

One thing I've heard is his..lack of defense. Like you don't see players posting him up night after night, sure he's a great scorer but I hear he had no "D"

Jimmer sounds like something you'd order at a brothel.

Why not just let another team draft him? Then after he busts, pick him up in a few years off of waivers. It'll be great for the fans.

I have Jimmer fever almost as much as the next guy... I wouldn't take him with any lottery pick. His defense isn't great at BYU but he isn't asked to play any defense at all really. He is better than what most people think.
I doubt that he would be any better than Devin. Although it would be nice to have a Korver style player that is clutch 3 pointer and free throws.
Where our picks will most likely be, there will be other better players that also fit needs.

It all depends on what the other choices are at the time.

Exactly. I like to play the local rivalry as much as anyone, and wouldn't mind having him at the right spot. This spot is not in the lotto.
