Re: Okur?
Even if hes getting healthy, hes never been famous for being in shape right off the bat. I don't see him having any impact whatsoever this season, and I'm skeptical that he will have a real impact in the NBA ever again, really.
A shame.
A shame.

Re: Okur?
I think he has the desire to play and to get back in shape. The only question is whether his back lets him. I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll be able to contribute at some level next year.

Re: Okur?
get him in there for the last month and see what he looks like. After a full offseason of working out for memo and 2 lottery picks the Jazz will look even more different next year.

Okur is done. Sad to say, because he was a great Jazzman and is an all around good guy.

Re: Okur?
Im afraid he might be done with the best hope being a back up center next year. They say he is feeling better and could be practicing and maybe playing in a month, but he will not be effective. I would hate to have him take minutes away from Favors who needs more minutes as it is. Elson is also more effective than him as well, but if old Memo came back hitting 3s, it would help the Jazz open up their offense.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Memo is going to be just fine.......
Beause he suffered a full rupture of an already-injured achilles tendon. Name 5 basketball players that have ever come back to be meaningful from that injury, let alone back to pre-injury effectiveness, and I will be more than impressed.

Ak doesn't carry nearly the softness that Okur does. Okur is not fat, but his core has clearly never ever been strong. That leads to back problems. Theyre not going away.

One thing that works in Memo's favor is that this injury is more typical with high flyers, and speed players. Memo is neither. If Memo can get healthy again, I don't think this injury will effect him too much because he mainly just parks beyond the arc, and was already horrible on D.

Re: Okur?
What he should do is call a year and begin a rehab/strength program now to prepare for next season. I feel like if he came back this year it would not only hurt the team but it would greatly increase his risk of being injured again.
I understand Memo is a fighter and wants to play again ASAP but he has to take a step back and look at it from the outside. The team doesn't need another "new" player to adjust to at this point in the season and he needs to protect his overall health/career. He comes back too early again and he very may well be done for good.
I wish him the best either way.

Memo can and will come back from this......
This isn't the first time that his back has acted up. Backs don't really heal... they only get worse. I am not too concerned about the heel injury as I am the back one.

AK's back keeps acting up as well...... It's something that happens to a lot of players...... Memo has never really been out of shape in a bad way...... I don't think this is anything too serious......

Why do you think he's out of shape?
Because he can't do any good cardio due to the terrible achilles rupture. It could be a year or more before he's comfortable cutting or planting hard on that heel. Its not like Memo is 23. He's getting older and this is an injury that is very hard to come back from. I wont even touch on the back issues.
I love Memo...but I think he's done. I hope I am wrong.

Ak doesnt carry around a soft belly. I think you are really underestimating the importance of core strength.

Re: Okur?
I expect him back playing at a high level next year.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You do remember that he has already appeared in some games this year, right?
And did he look out of shape?
