We need help at SG. Bell just isn't cutting it, and CJ has regressed to his old useless self. I wish we could go back in time and match Matthews, but, we can't. So, I'm ready for some out of the box thinking on what can be done this year.

My ideas.
- Start Price. This is the easiest one. We have him on the roster and he allready has a SG mentality. Sure, we'd be giving up a lot of size against opposing SGs, but, I'm ready to try something new. Price ususally makes good things happen when hes out there.
- Start Hayward. If we're going to suck, we may as well let Hayward get some run. He can't be any worse than the other two.
- Bring in a D leaguer. There has to be a diamond in the rough out there somewhere.
- Sign a guy that clears waives. Azubuike would be perfect if he can play.
- Talk MJ out of retirement. He owes us.

You posted this at almost the exact time I started my thread. It's the same topic, maybe you should merge them.

My solution is to start Hayward.

Hayward's arguably our best defender, has good handles, is unselfish, and is settling into his stroke, so it's an easy decision for me.

Starting Price would be a debacle. He's amazing for those games where you're down 25 and the usual suspects are sluggish (e.g. the comebacks-that-fell-just-short against the Lakers in the playoffs), but he's just not a credible NBA rotation player.

Step 1, waive Ronnie Price, so Ty Corbin doesn't have an excuse to play him.....

Step 2, start Hayward......

Step 3, sign Jeffers and play him as Hayward's backup.......

Start Hayward. Run Favors 30 minutes a game. Go young at get it over with. Don't half ass it.

Hope kapono gets bought out and for some reason chooses the jazz. Or just start Hayward which makes the most sense.

I love you so much for saying that..... Ronnie Price is so god awful it astounds the mind.

Just start Hayward or CJ, it's a no brainer.

Ronnie is a bad PG. But, I think he is a pretty decent SG. He can shoot, he gets steals, he gets blocks, he plays pesky defense.

The knock on him is obviously his height, and ability to defend SGs, but, I'd give it a shot and see.

I agree that Bell is not starter-worthy. I think Gordon Hayward might be the worst #9 pick in history....but that doesn't change the fact that he is more effective than Bell. Start Hayward.

How can you say that? thats just asinine.
Gtime is a future piece to our puzzle, he may very well be our best shooter.

He needs time to develop and I would already take him over your boy Dwont's best bud CJ

As for him being the worst #9 pick of all time, GTFO. It's been half a season and he's already developing nicely.

Hayward is a hell of a better shooter than Ronnie Price. Price has always been one of the worst shooters on the team, and this year is no exception. I can't believe anyone's possible solution to our problem at SG would be to start the guy who shoots 39 FG%/30 3PT% for his career, and a blistering 36/27 this year. If Price started for the team at SG I would quit watching them. Price is freaking awful.

I never think his shot is going in. In fact, I think I've seen him miss about half of his layups. I'm not a Hayward hater, at least I don't think so, but, I think his shot is the worst part of his game.

If he's our best shooter that really explains why we're struggling so much. I'd take Memo, Harris, Millsap, and even Jefferson over him if I needed a jumpshot to go down.

Can my eyes really be so deceptive? I'll need to see some stats.

82games.com has him shooting 37% on jumpshots. That's right in line with my eyes.

Considering how inconsistent his minutes were and how nervous he was early in the year, it's not shocking. Watch him in practice/warm-ups and watch his mechanics. It's going to translate soon enough. But regardless, Ronnie Price, whose shooting skills you spoke highly of, is shooting a worse percentage.

And I've heard teh whole, "watch him in warm ups/practice and watch mechanics, and it's going to translate soon enough' argument before. That's all I ever heard about Morris Almond.

So, while I do think that Hayward will improve in his shooting, I've been burnt before by the 'his form looks great' argument before. I think it's a positive, but, if it doesn't translate into in game results it's not worht anything.

But, I think we can lay to rest the idea that he's the best shooter on the team when he's only a hair better than Price, ok?

Hayward is the second best 3 point shooter on our team which is nice, and shows that he should be able to improve his shot. What I like most about Hayward over CJ though is the fact that he tries to do things on the basketball court other than just shoot i.e. pass the ball, rebound, and play defense. He also doesn't get desperate when he misses a basket, he keeps playing. CJ still seems extremely fragile.
