Enes Kanter

Post#1 » by Matt007b » Thu Mar 3, 2011 5:05 am

I didn't see any news or anyone mention this but looks like the Jazz just worked out Enes Kanter. He's not allowed to play college hoops apparently because he took some money before college (I'm not sure if I totally understand the situation but looks like he's a FA shopping right now.

ah that's what is happening.. so he has to go through the draft? I thought he played pro in turkey?

*from what I read he was supposed to play for kentucky but the NCAA won't allow him to play because he played for $$$ before college

all euro's play pro that get drafted usually. its just you can't play ncaa ball if you received money for playing basketball. He came over to play for kentucky and get more focus on himself for the NBA, didn't work out cause he collected a paycheck from some team in turkey and now hes basically going in on his junior career in turkey.

Jazz really don't need bigmen unless their planning on making a draft day trade. Obvisiouly I don't mind them looking at him..no stone unturned..for what its worth hes the best euro prospect since rubio.

Sold. Hope he falls to us. My dream scenario is to get the 1st pick so we can pick up Kyri from Duke and send him to Cleveland (who covets Kyrie Irving and need a pt guard), and then hopefully pick up their 2 or 3 pick, and their #8 pick from LAC from the Baron Davis trade.

Then we take Kanter or Perry Jones, and flip the #8 & #12 to Washington for Nick Young or Wesley Johnson.

Thats my hope!

from all the data I'm looking at he looks really good...

Ok I guess that makes sense ..with the draft getting closer, looks like he's on the Jazz radar. :)

Hes a physical guy..not a perimeter european big..a frontcourt of him and favors might be something really special..a little undersized but great physical players.

WHHAAAA??? How about just keep Kyrie Irving? You know, the best prospect in the draft hands down?

Hes a project at a position the Jazz currently have excess players. The Jazz need a shooter at the 2 or 3 from the draft but there really isnt a very good one available. Irving is a PG who will be great but does that mean we give up on Harris already. The Jazz should look into trading the pick near the draft for a solid 2 or 3, especially if AK-47 signs elsewhere.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Important question: does his first name rhyme with "penis?"

Harrison Barnes is the guy! He should be there when we pick.

Draft is before free agency so we won't know where AK is going. You also don't trade a high draft pick for a solid 2 or 3. If we land Kyrie we keep him. Devin is signed for a few years and Kyrie won't be ready right off the bat.

Also if we don't make playoffs we should take a look and Leonard from SDSU.

He is a solid enough player but we just don't need another big man.

Enes isn't your typical European big who is assumed a great shooter but soft, he is the opposite. I've always used this comparison, he was like Wilt Chamberlain in the junior leagues at Turkey. He was so big and dominant for his age that many of us thought his age was decreased somehow. He played for Fenerbahçe for a little while, and when he left Fenerbahçe got mad and sent papers to the NCAA proving he got paid by the club, making him ineligible for the NCAA. I would love it if we got him because he is an amazing prospect, but can he succeed with the bigger bodies against him right away? That I really don't know. Also, he might have a potential risk of knee injuries, but I'm not really sure about that.
