Do the Jazz know there will be a lock out this year

This coming weekend (April 8th-April 9th) they are having their annual season ticket holders upgrade event that in the past is held in August but is now being held in April before the 2010 season is even over yet?

Now I was not a season ticket holder back in 98/99 when the last lock out was so I don't know what was done but I do know the past few years its always been done in August.

This is so that us currant season ticket holders can get more seats and chose better seats so.... Which leads to more $$$ for the Jazz and most of the plans start or have already started on making payments or like in my case were paid for 2011/2012 season before Feb 28th So what happens if there is a lock out? Ive asked my season ticket rep 4 times and still have not got a answer back from her.....

I think they're just hedging their bets like everyone else.

You will not have to pay for games that are not played. It will be pro-rated.

Do the Jazz sound like they are broke to anyone else but me? They let talented players go like Maynor for nothing to save a buck then let the free agents leave this summer for cheaper versions. I am not saying I wouldnt have done the same in their position, but Im really starting to wonder if the team is suffering financial woes more than we know!

No, they aren't broke, they are in the black the past few years at least. Missing the playoffs hurts obviously. What they don't have, and most teams don't, is money to blow on players who don't meet their potential. That means they can't afford to pay the luxury tax without getting the benefit of many playoff games in revenue. The team owns the stadium, and it's practically paid for and has good revenue amenities. They have a good set up, just not the TV revenue that the bigger teams get.

Yeah they are broke. That's why they traded for Al's huge contract. Look at the highest payrolls in the league. Before the D-Will trade the Jazz were in the top 5, maybe top 3, highest payrolls in the league. Not sure exactly where they sit now, but they are still up there. They only let Mathews go cuz it would've killed them to pay him around $16 million this year alone, with $10 million coming in one lump sum. They Jazz didn't "let him go" as much as Portland screwed him away from us.

That is insane. How can someone look at the facts and seriously conclude that the Jazz must be broke? Nobody seems to realize that most sports franchises technically operate "in the red". The Utah Jazz is a self-sustaining entity like every company within LHM. They aren't going broke, and they aren't leaving Utah. They're isn't going to be a Las Vegas Jazz, ever. Get over it.

From what it sounds like the fans will be refunded in full plus interest for the games that will be missed due to the lockout if such an event occurs. Other incentives are also being discussed per each team.

If the Jazz were really broke they would of tried to move AK's contract at the deadline for something which they really didn't even think of moving him. Because if they could of unloaded that they could of ended up not having to pay the luxury tax this summer......
