Jazz first to miss playoffs after starting 15-5 and 27-13.

...team will be first in NBA history to not make the playoffs after posting a record of 15-5 and 27-13.

Even worse from a historical perspective, Utah slid o 37-42 and clinched the franchises second losing season in the past 28 years.

A sub.500 record has been even more rare in these parts that no post season appearances, considering Utah is about to miss the playoffs four the fourth time... since 1982.

We are also the first team to lose a HOF coach, and our best player (and possible hall of famer) within a week of each other, with also missing 140+ games to injury to true rotational players.

Really not surprising.

Let's see what else has happened this past year?

- Lost our leading scorer from last year
- Lost the all-time 3-pt NBA fg% in a season leader
- Won a ton of games early in the year in incomprehensibly fluky ways
- Relied on Raja Bell and CJ Miles to be our most consistent options at 2 guard
- Relied on Earl Watson and Ronnie Price for way too many minutes at the point
- Relied on Elson for a lot of early season minutes at the 5
- Endured Deron-o-drama and his mental take-down of Hayward for the next 30 games..
- Not only lost Sloan, but Phil Johnson too..
- Most consistent play we ran all year? Watson to Evans alley-oop
- Watched all three divisional rivals make trades that significantly improved their teams
- Introduced a rookie coach in the midst of all the other drama
- Lost Okur for the year ( 95%)
- Became the only team ever to lose an undrafted summer camp invitee to a $35 mil contract to a divisional competitor
- Distraction of a potential lockout
- Lost Harris to 2/3 of the games after the trade
- and most importantly, changed the logo..

Hmmn, I wonder why the season has soured? As a Jazz STH, I'm mostly at peace with where we sit. If only 2 or 3 of these things had happened, it would have been a tumultuous year.

Needs to happen to become a contender again. The pendulum needs to swing. Need to have a couple off years to get back on track. I'm ok with it. I ready to build with the baby band....jazz band

I agree for the most part, but I wouldn't say anything about Boozer, since we replaced him with Jefferson and Millsap has gotten more PT and improved thanks to that. Also Boozer missed like 25 games this season and is struggling with Noah. I think injuries and coaching change hurt us most. A lot of new faces too, too many different lineups. For the life of me I can't figure out why Bell has gotten so much run. I hope we don't resign him.

Say what you will about Williams, but we were like 8 games over .500 with him, frustration set with him due to years of questionable decision making, like getting no talent in return for Brewer and Maynor, and letting Mathews walk. Not sure if we could of kept Korver, but yeah he would of been useful this season. Then there is the signing of Bell, Elson and Watson.. sure Watson has been decent at times, but their salaries combined equaled the salary of Mathews who we passed on. We knew he was going to be very good, should of took our chances and matched since we were losing Korver and Brewer anyways. Also Sloan playing Bell like 32mpg probably pissed off Williams too.
